King Mo Lawal Signs With Bellator...& TNA Wrestling

Conference call later to make it official

Bloody Elbow has been a leading voice in combat sports since formation in 2007 and has earned a global reputation for expert analysis, opinion and news.

Sherdog.com confirmed with sources close to the situation on Wednesday that "King Mo" is expected to sign with both Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and the Bellator Fighting Championships in the near future. According to Sherdog's sources, the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion will likely perform simultaneously for the professional wrestling organization and the Chicago-based MMA promoter. Details surrounding the deals were not revealed.
He still has to finish serving his suspension before he can get a license to fight.

It was inevitable that he would end up in wrestling one day, but personally I think he's nuts to try doing both at the same time. Wrestling will hurt his MMA career, and i'm surprised Rebney is allowing this.

Can't wait for Mo to pull of of a tournament final because he took a sloppy bump from Bully Ray or something.

But anyway, good signing for Bellator, fuck Zuffa.

So it looks like Mo will be Bellator's #1 star with the move to Spike. Hope he stays healthy.

Over on the Observer board, I asked if Mo will be entering tournaments or just doing Superfights. Jeremy Botter came in the thread and said Mo will be entering the first tournament he's allowed to enter once his suspension is up.

That's good news, but keep in mind that Botter has been wrong before. A lot.

I think Mo said at the press conference he's entering the tournament.

Tournament is the best thing for him, could possibly get 3 dominate wins in a short span than win the title while doing pro wrestling, he will have the most tv time of any fighter going

Refreshing to see a 'star' fighter not scared of the tournament format.

                      Eddie Alvarez, Nate Marquardt, scared.

Here is a good post from another board:

                        I like this a lot.

He can be on Impact while waiting out his suspension and help build the tournament. When it finally rolls around it will have a lot more momentum going for it than the average tournament. Not that thats saying a whole lot, but still.

Mo is an easy guy to protect too, not that you'd have to in the Bellator LHW division. All you do is take 3 guys who struggle with wrestlers, put them on Mo's side of the bracket and you'll have him cruise to the finals and look good doing it. From there he should be able to beat the other finalist and M'Pumbo.

This should be relatively successful for TNA and Bellator and could really be great for Mo. If he wins the Bellator title, having him win the TNA title at the same time could be a nice angle. He might be better off as the big fish in the small pond instead of being another guy losing to Jon Jones.
It's like I keep saying, the UFC roster is too big and everybody gets lost in the shuffle. The last two years or so of the UFC collecting all of the talent is bad for the fighters, it's bad for the fans, it's bad for everybody. The sport is better off when the talent is spread around so talent can get over. It wasn't that long ago that UFC, SF, IFL, Bodog, PRIDE/DREAM, Sengoku all existed at the same time, all had champions, so when guys jumped to a new place to fight they had a reputation and some momentum. You can't have 'dream fights' when one roster has all of the fighters and half of those fighters are buried in prelims or on FX or Fuel.

If King Mo ends up winning the title by next summer, TNA must make him their champion. Imagine him rolling down to the cage for his first title defense with both belts.

I'd love it just to see the underground explode.
