So, I figured with as little as racing is talked about around here, it would just be easier to create a general thread where all racing could be talked about. So no matter what you watch, NASCAR, Formula 1, Indy, American Le Mans, Rolex Sports Car, etc., come chat about it in here.
Good looking lineup this weekend...
Sprint Cup is at Sonoma. Nationwide, Rolex Series, and Continental Tire Series are all at Road America (my favorite track in the US, btw). Formula 1 is at Valencia, and Indy is at Iowa (lame track).
Not a huge fan of the layout that NASCAR uses at Sonoma. I'm a much bigger fan of the carousel that's used in the full layout and the Indy layout rather than the chute that NASCAR uses to bypass the carousel. Buuut, of course with it being one of only 2 road courses on the schedule, of course I'll watch. More excited for the Nationwide and Rolex races at Road America though. Marcos Ambrose shattered the lap record at Sonoma today in qualifying. To me, it's not too shocking given that he's a 2 time champion in the Aussie V8 Supercar series. The man knows how to run a road course.
Formula 1 is in Valencia this weekend, which is a street circuit. It has the most turns of any course on the schedule at 25. Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel is the man to beat this weekend, as he's led all but 1 lap in this race the past 2 years running and has been near the top of the boards in practice 1 and 2 already this weekend.
Weekend of 6/23-24 races:
Rolex Sports Car: Road America - Saturday @ Noon EST on SPEED
NASCAR Nationwide: Road America - Saturday @ 3pm EST on ESPN
IZOD IndyCar: Iowa Speedway - Saturday @ 10pm EST on NBC Sports
Formula 1: Valencia Street Circuit - Sunday @ Noon EST on FOX
NASCAR Sprint Cup: Sonoma Raceway - Sunday @ 3pm EST on TNT
