    The Racing Thread (NASCAR/F1/Indy/etc)

So, I figured with as little as racing is talked about around here, it would just be easier to create a general thread where all racing could be talked about. So no matter what you watch, NASCAR, Formula 1, Indy, American Le Mans, Rolex Sports Car, etc., come chat about it in here.

    Good looking lineup this weekend...

Sprint Cup is at Sonoma. Nationwide, Rolex Series, and Continental Tire Series are all at Road America (my favorite track in the US, btw). Formula 1 is at Valencia, and Indy is at Iowa (lame track).

Not a huge fan of the layout that NASCAR uses at Sonoma. I'm a much bigger fan of the carousel that's used in the full layout and the Indy layout rather than the chute that NASCAR uses to bypass the carousel. Buuut, of course with it being one of only 2 road courses on the schedule, of course I'll watch. More excited for the Nationwide and Rolex races at Road America though. Marcos Ambrose shattered the lap record at Sonoma today in qualifying. To me, it's not too shocking given that he's a 2 time champion in the Aussie V8 Supercar series. The man knows how to run a road course.

Formula 1 is in Valencia this weekend, which is a street circuit. It has the most turns of any course on the schedule at 25. Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel is the man to beat this weekend, as he's led all but 1 lap in this race the past 2 years running and has been near the top of the boards in practice 1 and 2 already this weekend.

    Weekend of 6/23-24 races:

Rolex Sports Car: Road America - Saturday @ Noon EST on SPEED
NASCAR Nationwide: Road America - Saturday @ 3pm EST on ESPN
IZOD IndyCar: Iowa Speedway - Saturday @ 10pm EST on NBC Sports
Formula 1: Valencia Street Circuit - Sunday @ Noon EST on FOX
NASCAR Sprint Cup: Sonoma Raceway - Sunday @ 3pm EST on TNT

Chip Ganassi Racing won in the Daytona Prototype class and AIM Autosport Team Ferrari won the GT class at Road America today. Pretty good race.

Pretty good Nationwide race at Road America today. Some great racing for the top 5 in the last few laps. Too bad that Villeneuve had to be a douche bag like he always is and spin Danica out of the way on the last lap. Former Formula 1 racer, Nelson Piquet Jr took the victory. He looked absolutely dominant.

Sebastian Vettel took the pole for the Valencia race as he put up the fastest time in Q3 today with only a few seconds left in the session.

It was great to see Danica got spun out on the last lap.

Not by that ass clown. Guy couldn't cut it in Formula 1, so he figured he'd come over to the US and be a douche in NASCAR running into people all the time.

Danica looked damn good all day. Just too bad that she couldn't get the result b/c of an idiot.

I actually don't mind Kurt Busch, but I am really not a fan for Danica, so I will always root against her.

What a terrible day for Franchitti. Looks like his quest for a 5th championship is all but gone. However, not too shabby of a day for my other favorite, Marco Andretti. Nice 2nd place finish after a terrible season so far.

as a Kyle Busch fan I take offense to that kind of talk.

Danica had a top 5 wrapped up and blew it.

Un-fucking-believable. Vettel gets out to a 20 second lead during the first 25-30 laps of the race. Then 2 scrubs in the back get in a wreck to bring out a full-course caution. Shortly after going back green, Vettel's car shits the bed.

Another Renault engine shitting the bed as Lotus-Renault's Romain Grosjean is out of the race.

Well that race was just redonk. 2 of the top 3 in the driver's championship DNF'd. Alonso comes from 11th to the win the race. Schumaker comes from 12th to finish 3rd and get on the podium, and Mark Webber comes all the way from 19th to finish 4th.

This is just not my weekend for racing lol. My #1 drivers in Indy and F1 both DNF'd, and now Harvick is a lap down from running out of gas.

EDIT: Hey, there we go. Harvick gets the free pass.

Kurt is getting in pretty good position to dive into one of these passing corners and take this from Bowyer.

EDIT: Putzed around too long and lost his shot.
