Free agent winger Ray Whitney has signed a two-year, $9 million with the Dallas Stars.
The 40-year-old Whitney has played the past two seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes. He tallied 24 goals and 77 points in 82 games last season before helping the Coyotes to the Western Conference Final in the playoffs.
Drafted in the second round in 1991, Whitney has accumulated 365 goals and 1003 points in his 20 seasons in the NHL with seven different teams.
A second-team NHL all-star last season, Whitney won a Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006.
