But also, they couldn't just let him walk away on an offer sheet, because it says more that "we gave up" where as trading him says "we are moving him for assets." I think this is the smart move by the Preds.
Well they gotta pay him 26 million dollars before they move him. Pretty big money to pay just to turn around and ship him out a year later

But as I said before, the other side of it is getting first round draft picks that are most likely going to be in the 20-30 pick range for the next four years, so really they are not getting any superstars at those picks that will help them quickly. If you could bank on a couple of top 10 picks then maybe, but basically those first would be trade material anyway. So why not just keep Weber and ship him for what you actually want.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

      "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

It'll be interesting to see what the Flyers do now, I definitely don't think they're as good as they were at the end of last year at this point.

If anything, his trade value will go up after this year since 1/5th of his contract will have been paid out.

I want to see Shea retire a Pred. If Poile decides he wants to listen to trade offers, hopefully he can get something crazy. I've always been a big Pekka fan but i wasn't looking forward to seeing him face shots without Suter OR Weber out there.
