Gargano retains, then cuts a fantastic emotional promo, saying that independent wrestling is dying, and that he's sick of guys leaving the indies one by one, so even thought its his dream to headline WrestleMania, he turned down his offer and is staying with DGUSA. He said he wants to help build DGUSA into the premier indy and help build the Open the Freedom Gate into the premier title in wrestling for wrestling fans. Fans ate it up. It was really good and came off genuine, whether it was or not. Unless this is an elaborate work, there was an offer on the table a few months ago from WWE.

Chuck Taylor & Jake Manning jumped him at that point, and CIMA made the save, roll credits, show over.

      Thoughts...

-Can't say enough about the tag match two posts up. Generico might be the best wrestler on the planet as of this moment, and is on his way to being an all time great babyface. He can do it all and work any style. He's just fantastic, never comes close to having a bad match (or even a mediocre one) and everything he does is very good or better. A must see match of 2012 and one of the best tag matches in recent memory.

-Didn't understand the booking of the Masada debut. He should have squashed Pinkie Sanchez, but they had a back & forth match. Sanchez was the perfect opponent to get him over as a new monster, because he's small, takes great bumps, and is a smarmy heel. But the match didn't work and I didn't feel like Masada got over in the way he should have. He should squash Jake Manning tomorrow but the first impression is shot.

-Chuck Taylor vs Rich Swann was a fun brawl.

-The Scene had their best match ever in DGUSA against Super Smash Brothers, but it went too long imo. Doesn't help that neither team is my cup of tea.

-YAMATO vs Ricochet was just good enough to be good, but they smartly toned it down knowing that other matches were the focus of the show. Well worked though for sure.

Overall a very good show. Can't call it great, but there was enough there to live up to expectations. Can't wait for tomorrow.

From the email newsletter, last second hype..

Main Event #1 - Open The United Gate Decision Match
CIMA & AR Fox vs. Ricochet & Rich Swann
CIMA & Ricochet never lost the tag titles, but they are now in different stables. They were each told to choose a new partner for this decision match. This is the first time this mentor/protege combination have been on opposite sides. This starts a new era of tag team wrestling in DGUSA/EVOLVE with these two exciting, fresh duos.

Main Event #2 - Dream Match
El Generico vs. Akira Tozawa with Christina Von Eerie
The term "Dream Match" is thrown around loosely these days. It applies here when it comes to arguably the two most outstanding wrestlers in the world. This incident only serves to heat it up.

        Main Event #3 - I Quit Match
        Johnny Gargano vs. Chuck Taylor
There is a long history between these two. Simply, they hate each other. Now the feud will come to an end and there will be no rules. It goes on till one says I Quit. Expect this to get violent. Here's a video look at their history leading to last month's title match, which was so wild that tonight's rematch was signed.

        Special Attraction Match
        YAMATO vs. Jon Davis
YAMATO is the only man to hold both the top titles in Dragon Gate and Dragon Gate USA. He wants his top spot back. Jon Davis has said he will win or go home. Can Davis follow up on the momentum of Style Battle to defeat someone of the stature of YAMATO?

        Special Attraction Tag Team Match
Super Smash Brothers vs. Arik Cannon & Pinkie Sanchez
You want tag team wrestling? This card has it! The Super Smash Brothers are having a breakout year. Cannon & Sanchez are part of one of DGUSA's top stables in D.U.F. This could be the show stealer!

        Special Challenge Tag Team Match
        The Scene vs. Zero Gravity
The Scene of Caleb Konley & Scott Reed with Larry Dallas look to climb the card while high-flyers Zero Gravity try to earn a spot. These are two duos to keep an eye on

        Special Challenge Match
Samuray Del Sol vs. Shane Hollister
Samuray Del Sol is one of the most unique, exciting competitors around. Shane Hollister is on the verge of breaking out. This is important to both athlete's careers.

        Special Challenge Match
        Masada vs. Jake Manning
Can the "Man Scout" stop the destruction of Masada?
        -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think i've been more excited for a match all year than I am for Generico/Tozawa.

Another very good show, nothing was terrible except for the sloppy opener. Masada failed to get over either night, I blame the booking night one but the second night the match just didn't work.

Generico/Tozawa was excellent, but it looks like this will be a long feud so I think the best is ahead. Well worked and perfectly paced match tonight though, not a MOTY by any means but would easily be the best match on most shows.

My feed was HORRIBLE for the main event, I had to open a support ticket and missed a lot of it, so I can't really judge the match. What I saw was fine, but by the time I got my feed going smooth I was out of the flow of things. Ricochet as a whiny heel has some potential.

The Scene had another good match, that's two in a row.

Samuray Del Sol vs Shane Hollister was perfect for the spot on the card. Hollister did well in his role, they told a nice story of Hollister trying to slow down the faster high flyer.

Gargano took a back flip over the top onto a guard rail that was positioned between the ring and another rail...one problem, he went THROUGH the fucking thing and took a hard bump on the floor. I was terrified. He looked ok but my god he could have cracked his skull open. Good blow off match.

Overall the two shows were well worth it, under $20 combined for great action, DGUSA delivers again.

Shame you missed that main event, that was far and away the best match on this card. It was "flippy" but there was psychology and everything made sense.

Yeah, they fixed the problem but it was too late. I'm hoping they give me access to the on demand for at least 24 hours or something, I want to watch the match I paid for, but I went for the $9.99 one time only option.

Forgot to mention Jon Davis vs YAMATO, cool match, what hurt it is Davis is still doing the stupid retirement gimmick, so the finish was never in doubt. I would have popped like a retard at that finish otherwise.

Im surprised you like that match given it was pretty methodical/strong style.

That's exactly what it was like, a very good upper mid card New Japan match.

It's methodical/Triple H style that loses me, when he thinks it's 1973 and he's working Harley Race in St Louis.

Yes, I love my flippy shit. But my favorite era of all time is early 90's All Japan, nary a flip be found, and I was one of the last people on earth to give up on NOAH, which was really the natural evolution of All Japan after the exodus. My favorite wrestler is KENTA, whose next flip will be his first.

                          All Japan early 90's
                          ROH '04-'08-ish
                          ECW '95-'97
                          Dragon Gate, entire history
NWA/TBS/Crockett/whatever you want to call it, '85-'89
NOAH, from formation to about '09 or so

Those are probably the top 6 eras for me. New Japan & WWE always on the radar and enjoyable at various points but never as much as the previous 6.

How is Jon Davis doing a retirement gimmick already? He's like 25.

"My career is going nowhere, I have mouths to feed, im tired of losing, if I don't keep winning i'll just find something else to do, if I lose im out, blah blah blah"

It was fine at first after the losing streak, but now it just gives away finishes lol. It should have ended at the Style Battle tournament. It killed the YAMATO finish and hurt the match.
