    This is just not true.

Last post in last thread on page one of the baseball forum: 7/25

Last post in last thread on page one of the hockey forum: 7/2

The baseball forum is active, even with a 'Random Thoughts'. Same for the MMA/Wrestling/Boxing forum, which stays active while also having three 'Random Thoughts' threads and several other stickies for general thoughts (2012 Wresting Tracker, etc).

When the hockey forum had a "Random Thoughts', it was literally the only thread you guys would post in and you had threads on page one that were MONTHS old.

That's why it was removed. Not saying I particularly give a fuck either way, just explaining the difference. THE POWERS THAT BE don't wan't old ass threads on page one, it's a major traffic killer when lurkers see that shit. A cliquish 'Random Thoughts' is bad for driving traffic.

First off lol @ at comparing the baseball forum and hockey forum right now. There is nothing going on in hockey right now while Baseball is mid-season and heading to playoff push.

Second, always amazes me that non-hockey people come in here all the time to give their piece on how we shouldn't have a forum, yet they never post anything hockey related. Considering we have like 10 hockey guys who post in here on a regular basis, I would say we are doing fairly well.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

        "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

I didn't say you shouldn't have a forum. I didn't even say you shouldn't have a 'Random Thoughts' thread. I just came in here to counter leaffans bullshit of "the baseball forum gets a random thoughts thread and only stays active because of it', and explain for the hundredth time why a random thoughts thread works in some forums, but doesn't seem to work in the hockey area.

If you guys want a random thoughts thread, knock yourselves out. But then when nobody is posting threads, Atlas or whoever else is going to get annoyed at two month old threads on page one, and there will be yet another debate as to whether the forum should be shut down and the 'Random Thoughts' thread moved to 'Other Sports'.

lol @ counter bullshit. Every single non random thought post gets about an avg of 6 or 7 replies and its the same people replying to it. Hell the trade deadline just passed and it looks exactly like what happened when the NHLs trade deadline passed. A shit ton of threads about guys being traded and outside of people talking about their own team most of the threads have zero input or anything in them. A 10 player blue jays trade happends and it gets like 3 posts. Whats the point?

I'm sure Atlas and the rest will close up the baseball forum when it hits december and the place is more of a ghost town then here.

Lets get real here, the MLB forum is more active in December then the NHL forum/thread.

Let's be honest here, the NHL section is a just a spot for a posse of < 10 to banter and talk shit like we've done for years. It doesn't matter who gets traded or who beats who, this forum will be at its most active if Ron Mexico eats his brother's entire birthday cake whilst vacationing in Scotland. Give us long-time board members a fucking break ya fannies. Besides, it's not as if we make this place uninhabitable, anyone not retarded is welcome to join us in sparsely posting.
