    EVOLVE 17 - 9/8/12 - *LIVE SHOW UPDATES HERE FROM W2B*

EVOLVE 17: Generico vs. Del Sol III
    September 8th, 2012
    Flyers Skate Zone
    601 Laurel Oak Road
    Voorhees, NJ 08043
    Belltime: 5:00pm
    Doors: 4:30pm

This is a double header with Combat Zone Wrestling. Each event is a separate ticket. CZW will begin at 8:00pm. This is a great chance for fans to come from out-of-town and witness two unique brands in a first class facility.

The Tie Breaker - The Final Singles Match
El Generico vs. Samuray Del Sol III

    Grudge Match
    Ricochet vs. AR Fox

    Six Man Tag Team Action
Rich Swann & The Super Smash Brothers vs. Kentucky Gentleman's Club - Chuck Taylor, Drew Gulak & Orange Cassidy

    Special Challenge Match
    Sami Callihan vs. Masada

    Non-Title Match
Open the Freedom Gate Champion - Johnny Gargano vs. Jon Davis

    Special Attraction Match
    Jigsaw vs. Lince Dorado

    SHINE Showcase Match
Christina Von Eerie vs. Marti Belle

    D.U.F. vs. The Scene
Pinkie Sanchez vs. Scott Reed or Caleb Konley with Larry Dallas

    Three Pricing Options:
    $9.99 live showing only
$14.99 live showing and unlimited onDemand access
$24.99 live showing, unlimited On Demand access, and DVD

I usually just go for the $10 option, and hook the laptop up to the big screen. Lineup looks great, much better than the usual EVOLVE lineup, and a notch below DGUSA quality. Very excited about Generico/Del Sol part III, Gargano/Davis, and the two flippy matches, Jigsaw/Dorado & Ricochet/Fox.

    Who else is in?

This is a double header in the same building, CZW is running the night show, and a ton of these guys are pulling double duty.

I don't follow CZW at all, what's up with Jake & Dave Crist? Totally new look for Dave based on this poster. I remember Irish Airborn being a white meat babyface tag team...

        Generico/Del Sol III

First two were pretty great, this is the rubber match before they team up for good, but I smell a swerve.

Generico-Del Sol shouldn't be the main event. Co-main...sure. The reason you show up...eh. The first two were good, but not worthy of the third being the draw.

Gabe kept teasing some big angle with Davis as well.

Here are some things to watch for at EVOLVE 17 when it comes to Records:

-Wins and Best Record Leader Chuck Taylor (9-4) will not have a singles win or loss on the line this Saturday. This gives everyone underneath him a chance to move closer to taking the top spot.

-Jon Davis has momentum after Style Battle and is looking to climb up the Leaderboard. If he can defeat Johnny Gargano it will not only give him a win, but give a loss to someone who is above him on the Leaderboard. Davis also maintains that if he losses he will go home.

-Meanwhile, Gargano desperately needs a win over Davis to start challenging Chuck Taylor on top of the leaderboard

-The main event between El Generico and Samuray Del Sol is not just about it being a tie breaker in the final match of their three match series, both need the win to get to .500 and neither can afford to sink two wins under .500.

-Sami Callihan, who once had one of the best Records in EVOLVE, is looking to snap his losing streak as he returns from suspension. Masada is looking to get off to a 1-0 start.

-Both AR Fox and Ricochet really need to win if they hope to approach Taylor on top of the Leaderboard. Both are close to the top spot.

-Jigsaw and Lince Dorado are both looking to establish themselves as top players on the EVOLVE roster. They each need a win here to start building momentum.

-We just want to clarify that in the six man tag team match, the winning team will get credit for the win.
I still don't get the W/L records and leader board stuff. They need some sort of EVOLVE title for these records to mean anything. At the same time, whatever they come up with can't undermine the Open the Freedom Gate title as the top prize.

And it looks like the stupid retirement gimmick is still in place for Jon Davis, which keeps giving away his finishes. I hope this has a good payoff. Maybe he'll lose, and then snap and go heel and not honor the stip.

Ya know, maybe because Evolve is only like 17 shows deep, but I think the W-L record thing is shit.

                          Why?

                          It makes everyone look mediocre.

The best guy is Chucky T at 9-4?

9-4 gets you honorable mention into the Top 25 with "receiving votes".

When I see Generico and he's ".500" in EVOLVE...it make Generico look less awesome. Sorry, but it does. When I see Gargano with a mediocre record...the OtFG Champ...it makes him seem less awesome.

It is why you don't show WWE records when booking is awkward. I mean, CM Punk is under .500 in televised matches this year, and he's the "top guy".

Plus, storylines carry over from DGUSA to EVOLVE, Gabe says its like RAW & Smackdown now, yet the won/loss tuing only counts in EVOLVE. Makes no sense.

Im not sure if it's still on the website, but you also have like a million guys who did one offs who are like 1-0 or 0-1. "Chris Hero 0-1". "Quackenbush & Hallowicked 1-0". Stupid.

I just want to see a payoff. Why, as a fan, should I be like "oh shit, Davis can move to 10-6 with a win here" or "Masada is in trouble if he slips below. 500"? Because as of now, there is really no reason to care about the records, so I doent even pay attention. Good idea, but the execution is either poorly thought out or taking too long to come together.

Generico v. Del Sol when both are .500 is like watching the Seahawks and Jaguars on Monday Night Football lol.
