How many 80-year olds are killing their families and performing on a grand scale like the WWE? Chris Benoit killed his wife and child because she was going to leave him hell her family said Chris would beat her and abuse their son, She even filed a restraining against him in 2003 and filed for divorce for "cruel treatment". The more you look at this and the more you dig into it, It becomes more obvious that chair shots to the head and his 80-year old brain had nothing to do with this he was a terrible person he was your typical woman beater who took things too far and wasn't man enough to live with himself.Comment

Most 80-year olds don't have roid rage and a ton of strength except Verne Gagne, who strangely enough, ended up killing someone. I think you're thinking I'm using it as an excuse in saying he's not a bad person, he completely is, but I'm not going to ignore that his destroyed brain likely played a pretty large part in him going insane.Comment

No, no, I'm not saying that at all. He's still a horrible man, but there was definitely some mental problems at hand. Instead of correct those problems or try to make himself better, he made it worse, kept killing himself and took more drugs. Not making any excuses at all, he's one of the biggest pieces of shit in history.Comment

It's just a slippery slope.
Did pro wrestling cause Benoit to do what he did. Of course not.....BUT, his brain was in such a dystrophic state, his mush of a brain had to have an impact on whatever decision making process that led him to doing what he did. Is it possible that if Benoit's brain wasn't destroyed to the capacity it was...that he still ends up murdering his wife in a fit of rage? Sure.
Think back to that time and the only wrestler who spoke publicly against the talking point (before what happened was confirmed) was Regal because he was aware of the problems between Benoit and Nancy. Meanwhile, there's Chavo talking about how he trusted Benoit so much, he'd let him babysit his kids. Obviously, these are people who knew each other for years, almost like family (in Chavo's case)...but, how could they not be aware of the breakdown Chris was experiencing?
Then again, Chris' shithole mark doctor was STILL prescribing him loads of drugs up to the days of the murders. Guys who had to trust Benoit with their lives in the ring up to the weekend of the murders apparently never knew anything was wrong with him physically. There were times he would go apeshit in the locker room over something small, but I always got the impression that was just Chris Benoit being himself (he could be a nice guy, but almost at the drop of a dime, he could be a major asshole). The whole debate about how to perceive him....was he a decent guy who turned into a monster the final days of his life....or was he just a ticking timebomb and it happened to explode in 2006?
Just an incredibly horrific situation all ways around.

I saw Kevin Sullivan kill a crowd last month when he wrestled Cuban Assassin on a FUW show. Does that count?Comment

I wouldn't call what Benoit did roid rage so much as I would consider it along the lines of the ex-NFL players who lose their shit and commit suicide. Just because he took others with him before he went doesn't mean he was any more in control of his faculties.
And yes, his state had everything to do with chair shots and almost completely unprotected diving headbutts.Comment
