Good, now all we need is GSP to beat Condit in a month and we're all set for the biggest PPV of all-time.

2012 has been the year of the knee for Silva, btw.

-Big Nog's win was awesome. Herman's initial defense was surprising but can't keep going to the ground with Minotauro. Plus, that left that knocked him down was sweet.

-Fitch was a man possessed ($$$ will do that), great back-and-forth fight. Sucks for Silva, but he'll be better for it.

-Maia is a beast at 170

Every fight was great. Too lazy to give actual analysis.

i like MMA when i get a chance to watch it. and i probably watch 1 or 2 events per year so that tells you how much of a fan i am. i could be a fan because the action is just fucking awesome. I watch a fight where Maldonado just takes an incredible beating and still gets up with a chance to win it. I thought how much of a beast he was and how this is what its all about.

then i get to see anderson silva fight. This is the name i know. i hear it all the time so i know who he is, but know nothing about him. I hear rogan talking about how he is the greatest of all time and i think how can this guy be the goat when they have guys like chuck liddel, randy coutor, brock lessner, shamrock and a whole list of names i know and heard over the years. So i do some quick research and see the guys record and run as champ and i see how dana white says he is the best ever and think, ok....maybe he is. I mean, wtf do i know anyways.

so on to the fight....the only thing i took away from this fight is that how can anyone call a man the greatest of all time when he is fighting people who have no business being in the ring with him? this fight wasnt even a fight. it was a joke and somewhat an embarrassment to what i think MMA is supposed to be. Maybe this guy already earned his strips and thats why he is the greatest. Maybe he has already beaten all the competition he can to earn that title....but then i am told to watch him fight a guy name giffin or giffith and i see and even more ridiculous fight.

if silva is the best then the MMA is a long way from earning me as a fan. For all the respect i earned for these competitors by watching the heart of a guy like Maldonando, it was quickly ripped away when i saw the so called greatest of all time step into the ring with someone who would be like a HS wrestler vs a pro. Maybe Silva is that good, but my impression is he is only that good because he fights people he knows he can beat. MMA may as well be boxing with dana white in the role of don king....because this was nothing more than a fluff fight to earn money. Its also what killed the sport of boxing

Dana White on the possibility of Silva-Jones

I think the Jon Jones fight is a big fight. I know my man (Silva) says, 'No, no, no,' but the amount of money that would be offered for that fight, I guarantee you I will make Anderson Silva say, 'Yes, yes, yes.'"
that fight not happening would be a travesty. shit better happen

The reason Silva fought Bonnar is because the previous main and comain fell apart. They needed a main event fight and Silva offered his services.

He is the GOAT (we're talking a small list of possibilities: Fedor, GSP and Dan Henderson.....if you want to put Jones in there now, I can see that).

He's the best because he's been unbeatable. He was getting his ass kicked with a busted rib in the first Chael fight and ends up choking him out at 23 minutes of the 25 minute fight. He crushes Chael in the rematch and has done the same to Franklin, Henderson, Belfort, Okami and all but a few of his UFC opponents.

Plus, his style makes for impressive action. Saw it last night like the Forrest fight, great head movement. Against Okami, knocked him down with a jab.

He wants GSP next at 178-catchweight. Everyone else wants him vs. Jones, but neither of them want to go through that.

Dana on Fitch: A lot of people talk shit about Fitch laying on guys. This is MMA. You gotta prevent the guy from laying on you.

                        GSP would ruin Silva.

The GSP fight makes more sense, Bones is still too green to be going against Silva. With GSP vs Silva you have two guys at their peak who have cleaned out their division.

Fitch was extremely active in that fight and put on a good performance. It was fun to watch, surprisingly.

The way Brock was marketed and the fact that casual fans consider him one of the greatest as a result of the hype, is more of a black eye on MMA than the mismatch from last night. But, I do agree with you, there was no reason for him to be in there against Bonnar last night, get him an equal opponent or don't put on the fight at all. However, there's still a part of me that really enjoyed being able to see Silva perform like that.

I wouldn't say he crushed Chael in the rematch, he was getting his ass kicked till he started cheating.
