This is getting fucking retarded at this point.

Even better than doing this on Twitter, Ravin, would be if they decided to broadcast the negotiations on PPV. There are fans that would buy.

As for replacement players not selling, killgod, I agree... but they wouldn't need to sell that much to buy the owners more time. Putting teams of scabs on the ice would keep most fans away but I don't know that it would keep EVERY fan away. And if they managed to get a thousand or two fans to some of those games, they might make money considering that those players would be getting paid fuck all. I can't imagine the NHL's broadcast partners would have much interest in carrying such games but they might not have a choice. Scab players might - MIGHT - allow the owners the flexibility to draw this out longer.

I've been following alot of NHL players and for the most part most of them really don't have a clue whats going on. They're either overly dumb or not being informed.

Saw something about the Board of Governors meeting being in the first week of December. I'm assuming that's the date they cancel the season if we've not seen an agreement yet.

PA talking decertification (NFLPA anyone?) and players are now bickering and arguing amongst themselves.

Fehr's job is starting to tilt and guys just want a deal done so they can get back to playing. Season being saved at this point is looking bleak though and fan support of either side is dieing as the sport is seemingly destroying itself.

And the players self implosion continues, as Troy Brouwer sends some shotsfired out at Hamerlik and Neuvirth for their comments over the last two days.

Those are two guys that have never been on a conference call, never been to a meeting, never paid attention," Brouwer told The Post. "People are going to have their own opinions but when you're fighting for something with 700 other guys, all you're doing is just making it harder to make a deal and making it harder to accomplish the things we're fighting for.

"For me, I think those guys selling us out, being selfish like that and making those comments..." Brouwer continued. "Me being on their team, how am I going to trust them as a teammate from now on? Because you know they're not going to support players in the big scheme of things when you go and you play on the team with them; it's going to be tough to want to back those guys from now on."
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

                  "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

If anyone is watching this press conference with the NHL, you can just see Gary wants to hit someone. It is just a constant over and over. I love this.

It's an atrocity that these guys just can't agree and are likely going to lose 2 seasons in less than a decade.

He does make a good point though. The NHLPA has switched head guys so many times, how the hell is the NHL suppose to get use to someone and build a relationship with them. Every couple of years you have to get use to someone new. I feel safe now throwing my $2 down on the season not happening till next year. After seeing just how angry Gary was, you just know they are so far off that nothing is going to get done before Christmas. At this point, 48 games would be a gift.

From the Avalanche beat writer. He also writes for SI.com, so he has credibility:

                            adater ‏@adater
From deep inside players side: "We were ready to play again. But Don came in (Wed.) and told us we could get more and to hold out"

                            adater ‏@adater
That deep-inside-players quote came from depth player. They want to play, but top players still in Fehr camp. Could explode soon

                            adater ‏@adater
That depth player was not on the Avalanche, FYI. That's all I have on this

                            adater ‏@adater
Fehr did not hold a player-wide conference call in saying that, important to note. Came from top down, trickle-down

                            adater ‏@adater
Bottom line here: Players say they are unified, but not what I'm hearing from this depth player. They'll deny that publicly, but...

                            adater ‏@adater
....privately, they are feeling powerless as the Ryan Millers and Brad Richards of the world pretend this is a sacrifice for them

                            adater ‏@adater
This depth player is wicked smart though. May put his name to comments soon. Sorry for anonymous tilt to this. not my style

                            adater ‏@adater
We're seeing now the fruition of a two-tier economic system among players. Top guys in Europe, taking jobs, making $. Bottom guys suffering

It's like I said at the beginning of all this, Donald Fehr is a gigantic piece of shit, who has no interest in fair negotiating, and will kill the sport before he gives an inch. He almost killed baseball, managed to kill one World Series, and make no mistake, Donald Fehr will not blink about killing the NHL.

While I understand your viewpoint W2BTD, I doubt any current baseball player hates Donald Fehr. Shane Victorino $13M a year over 3 years.
Baseball players are making incredible money thanks to Donald Fehr.

My gut tells me hockey players see this and think Fehr can do the same for them. They're wrong, but Fehr is selling them this steaming pile of do-do.

Fehr can't use his baseball negotiations with the NHL ... entirely different sports, markets, etc...

                                No they aren't.

Baseball players make incredible money thanks (but should we really be thanking him?) to Marvin Miller.

He recently died, look up some obits, I think you would enjoy reading about his role in free agency and player rights.
