After looking extensively at the very best of the United States, we switch gears and look at what the foreign market had to offer...This is Part 1 of 2, so be on the lookout for Part 2 in the next couple of days.
No superlatives...no flashy jive talk...just the matches...here you go...
El Generico v. Kota Ibushi
DDT Trilogy
Listen, I'm not going to give you a paragraph telling you what made this series of matches 'Must See'...just do it. It is some of the finer match-to-match psychology and storytelling you'll see. El Generico is one of world's top workers and Kohta Ibushi has become a workhorse. Just watch. It'll take you a while to get through them all, but it'll be worth it.
Suwama vs Daisuke Sekimoto
AJPW 02.01.2012
I'm a bit of a mark for all things Sekimoto. He's a short, stout fire hydrant that has nothing but insane hard hitting bouts. Suwama is a middle linebacker sized two-time former All-Japan Triple Crown champion. Everything hits hard in this match and both guys will walk like Earl Campbell the next day.
Yuji Nagata & Wataru Inoue vs Masayuki Kono & Minoru
AJPW 03.02.2012
Unintentional humor comes in droves in this match. If you solely focus on Inoue in this match, you will notice him be swat away for half a match while Kono and Tanaka go HAM on Nagata. Oh, and Nagata dances at the end.
La Sombra (c) v. Volador Jr.
FantasticaMania 2012 Day 2
Showstealing match at the NJPW/CMLL FantasticaMania show. La Sombra is awesome. He's one of the few reasons to watch CMLL and throughout the year, had plenty of strong matches against Volador Jr, but this one stands out. Video game awesome.
Kishin Liger & Tiger Mask IV vs TAKA Michinoku & Taichi
NJPW Dominion 2012
A rare appearance by Kishin Liger. As you would expect from the participants, silky smooth and fantastic with a lot of focus on unmasking Jushin Liger. The result was a HUGE markout moment!
Hiroshi Goto/Tetsuya Naito v. Masato Tanaka/Shinsuke Nakamura
NJPW Dominion 2012
Dominion was such an awesome show. The undercard simply delivered. This match was close to stealing the show.
