So the what ifs are starting to come out in terms of trade day fallout.

Apparantly Detroit had a strong offer in for Bowmeester. Had better prospects but only a 2nd round pick. Wouldn't budge on the 1st. Some think Bowmeester used his NTC because he didn't want to become part of a rebuild situation that could happen in Detroit.

Vancouver went through a list of guys with Toronto for Luongo. Started out asking for Tyler Biggs and another prospect from this years draft and was turned down. Then went on to ask for Joe Colborne, Scrivens, MacArthur and a 2nd with no salary coming back. No wonder vancouver never moved him.

The dillusional Ryan Clowe had a sign and trade demand for a long time hence why he was never dealt earlier. He wanted an 8 year deal worth $50+mil

Ottawa had a hard time trading Bishop thanks to the goalie market being so over flooded right now. They really wanted a 2nd round pick (or late first) but couldn't find anyone to give it up. Some think the lightning basically stole him from Ottawa. Time will tell there.

I'm sure Thomas won't like to hear it but McPhee was apparantly in full desperation mode trying to shop Forsberg and Kuznetsov all season. For some reason not a lot of teams were high on Forsberg and the Erat trade was the best they could get. Everyone is afraid of Kuznetsov bailing on the NHL all together.

Tough loss to Caps tonight, but I have hopes for my Habs in the playoffs.

I'm sure Thomas won't like to hear it but McPhee was apparantly in full desperation mode trying to shop Forsberg and Kuznetsov all season. For some reason not a lot of teams were high on Forsberg and the Erat trade was the best they could get. Everyone is afraid of Kuznetsov bailing on the NHL all together.

It's all on McPhee now. There isn't another scapegoat. Oates would survive longer than GMGM at this point. That's why is desperate. In any other year, he wouldn't move Forsberg for Erat, but any knowledgeable Caps fan knows this. The ones drinking the kool-aid can't. I know we have one of the better farms, but you don't make that deal even if you have the best.

Agreed. No way in hell I deal a near-elite prospect for a 31-year-old (going on 32) who has never been anything but a second-line forward. Martin Erat a good player, but you don't give up a potential elite prospect for a guy who's best days are behind him.

When 14 of your scouts sign off on trading Forsberg you know something is wrong with him. Most people don't agree with the trade but Forsberg hasn't been the same since he was ranked #1 for Top Prospect 2 years ago.
