So the last 24hrs in leaf land has been retarded. Word of Phaneuf on the trade block has hit everything with a storm and then other people like dreger are saying nothing has ever been discussed.

My favorite teams management just fuckin sucks.

Also to add onto this it was said from Kyperos that Spezza is being shopped. Ottawa is in a really odd situation. No one knows if they're in a rebuilding phase or trying to compete for deep playoff runs.

Interesting news out of Pittsburgh. Essentially the main complaint is if the Pens don't advance there might be some heads rolling. Doesn't seem like Schero will get canned but he's going to be told to build around crosby and get some wingers.

Fun times in Toronto:

The Leafs would be exchanging Dion Phaneuf, James Reimer, and Cody Franson for Sam Gagner, and the 3rd Overall Selection in the NHL draft.

Seems like it's almost a salary dump to me. Though I don't think the Leafs are going to get much better with the flexibility in FA though.

That's what my issue is with this whole trade Phaneuf debate going on. There is simply no one on the roster to replace those mins. Before injuries in Jan he was almost at 30mins a game for the leafs. You can't simply replace that.

From what the internet has told me Shawn Thornton, Hemsky, Handzus, Callahan (this years David Clarkson) and Stastny look to be the names going to FA unless a last min contract will happen. Stastny is the only one who really seems like that might happen but the Avs are probably going to trade his right away.

And to finish off the Canadiens have started doing things I knew was going to happen and I love it. Dale Weise is reported to be close on a contract (one site had him listed at getting 2mil a year ) they traded away Leblanc for next to nothing and gave their odd head coach a 4 year extension. Yes.... continue this.

On the flipside it looks like Douglass Murray is going to walk.

Spezza, Hemsky and now Michalek are all but gone from the Sens. That's a first line basically.

Going to be Turris, MacArthur and Bobby Ryan for now. Might be a rough season next year or a bit of a saviour. Matt Puempel is going to be a name people will need to know. I was livid when the Sens drafted him after the leafs passed up on him for Tyler fuckin Biggs.
