Have I missed the good defensemen who've been traded? I wouldn't be that crushed over losing out on the likes of Robyn Regehr (who has been garbage for at least the past three seasons) and Jay Bouwmeester.

Holland has the job security to go this year without making any intimations towards a deep playoff run.

I also heard Mitchell is out all year so for the Kings this isn't really an upgrade as such as consolidation. As a rule, I don't usually expect a team to repeat in the NHL but they are definitely good enough. Even if one of the division winners in the West faces them in Round 1, it's a coin flip series.
