Eh, its not really anything new. They've long signed the best talent from other German clubs. Luiz Gustavo, Manuel Neuer, Dante, van Buyten, and Luiz Gustavo in the current squad. In the recent past, players like Michael Ballack, Lucio, Mehmet Scholl, Oliver Kahn, Hasan Salihadicz, Stefan Effenberg, Elber, Lukas Podolski, Miroslav Klose... A few of those were fairly young when they were signed, too. Its long been their MO. Which is not to say its a good thing but its how things have long happened.

Sucks for Dortmund. But they managed to replace Kagawa with an even more effective (for them) player in Reus. There is loads of young talent around the Bundesliga. Interested to see what they do to replace Goetz and Lewandowski.

The dismantling of Dortmund became inevitable when United came in for Kagawa. So its all your fault, Ike.

Bayern have long had world class talent all over the pitch. They win every second Bundesliga title, on average. So it kinda is like Spain but without a constant 2nd team. There is always a club that steps up into the challenger spot. Bayern don't often outright dominate but in a sense, they often underachieve to a degree. They've hit top form this season and that's clear just from their league form, even if they don't win the CL. But changes are coming. They have a new manager coming in. Goetze and probly some more new talent. Some current talent is going to have to depart. Ribery, Robben, Gomez, Tymoschuk, maybe Kroos... Who knows what Pep will want to do tactically. Even if they area a more talent squad on paper next year, I honestly expect some degree of decline in performance, at least at first.

well i couldnt believe it when i heard it first. Incredible move for Bayern in my opinion. For sure they buy a lot of talented young players from other teams but thats why they are one of the best teams in the world. It is also a chance for a lot of young players to take the step to another level. For example, Dante would never be in the dicussion to play for Brazil when he would still play in Gladbach. now he's pretty much set in the national team.

Also Dortmund will react to this in the summer. They have a lot of money to spend and I'm excited who they will get. Rumors i heard for a long time is that they'll get Herrmann from Gladbach which would be the same thing that Bayern is critizied for all the time.

I really hope Lewandowski goes to the Prem instead of Bayern. Then Dortmund can grab another Polish striker, Arkadiusz Milik from Bayer, and everything will work out better then expected.

Uh, what? He's already said he won't sign a new contract. He is out of contract in a year. If they don't sell him this summer, he walks away for free in a year. Even without a ton of leverage, they can probably get 30m for him. 30m Euros this summer or nothing next year? Not a hard choice...

That would be risky. Massively risky.

The thought of him extending is idealistic. Not to say someone changing their mind is impossible. But can they really afford to pay him what a top club would? Bayern's top stars earn twice what the highest paid Dortmund player currently make. I would be shocked if Goetze didn't double his wage with this move. Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid... they might offer even higher wages. While one can argue that Dortmund should pay whatever it takes, especially with a likely CL final on the horizon and they money that brings, the reality is that Dortmund's resurgence is after a low period created by overspending. So do they really want to put themselves at risk of that cycle again?

Presuming the could pay him, does he really want to stay? Kagawa left last year, and now Goetze. The lure of bigger clubs is undeniable. Dortmund has won two Bundesliga titles and could possibly win the CL... especially if they win, what else can he accomplish there? They have a great project going on, but asking a player to turn down the change to play for legendary clubs and have the massive profile that brings is pretty tough...
