              impressive opener from the Sharks.

They ran the 1st period but Lou kept them from scoring, was wondering if he was going to steal it. the 2nd was Vancouver's, they fought harder and got a gift from Torres (who was outstanding) putting it into his own net. PP was not to be denied to tie. 3rd period was a drubbing, Vancouver just had no real answer and the Sharks out worked them.

Thornton was great, constantly demanding 2 and 3 players defending him and still controlled the puck.

Hopefully Havlat is not out for long.

Torres provides everything to the team that Adam Burish was supposed to bring. Hopefully DW will amnesty Burish and lock up Torres.

Burish is still one of the tougher players out there. He looks for contact and doesn't mind it. The Sharks really don't have many guys like that. But Torres isn't going anywhere. He's been one of the best players out there since he got here. He is everything we thought he'd be but smarter and better.

DW looks like a genius with that entire move.

The Sharks are better than the Canucks, they just need to play like it or they should be labelled chokers again. Luongo is a head case. If they play physical and put pressure on him he can crack after a goal.

I think the criticism of Luongo is overblown and unfair at times. He's had his moments, but he's for whatever reason always the scapegoat and over analyzed.

I think he was the better goaltender last night as he faced tougher opportunities IMO and did well. Tough to fault him on any of those 3 goals. You can't give a top end scorer that shot, you can't blame him for the 2nd as Desjardins was flat out in his way even if he could see it, and Hamhuis deflected a point blank shot...tough to react there.

As for Wilson, I hate seeing him chewed up on HFboards. I think he continues to do a marvellous job of building a top end lineup that's good enough to win just about every year. Retained his star players under market value, put their key rival (Chicago) in a bind by pushing for Hjalmarsson...only to steal a quality goalie in Niemi because of it. Stockpiled picks in the next draft to fill the cupboards with talent by moving slow players we simply didn't need any more. There are few moves he's made (McGinn trade comes to mind) that I've disagreed with during his time, he's been excellent as a GM.

The GM's job is to build a team that can win a Cup, which he does, it's the players job to win the Cup, and they haven't. It's on them in the past.

Outplayed, but they got it done. Unexpected.

Couture was fantastic doing whatever it took.

Torres looking like the biggest move of the deadline if he continues to have such an impact.
