Report: Bale signs new deal with £50 million exit clause from 2014

After 24 hours of misery, finally Tottenham fans have something to smile about.
London’s Evening Standard have gone to print on Monday afternoon with news that Gareth Bale “has committed his future to the club with a £130,000-a-week deal and will remain at White Hart Lane next season… It is believed, though, that the Welshman is likely to be allowed to leave in 12 months’ time should an enormous bid — in excess of £50million — come in for him.”
The joint piece from journalists Simon Johnson and Tom Collomosse claims that news of Bale’s new contract renewal at White Hart Lane will be officially announced by Tottenham shortly.
Should the contract extension proved true it will be a huge relief to fans of the Lillywhites. Bale, 23, who scooped by the Player of the Year award several weeks ago, was one of the biggest stars of the 2013-14 Premier League season, and his commitment to Spurs, albeit for just another 12 months at this stage, should mean that the North Londoners can refocus on gaining entry to the Champions League next season with full gusto.
A few comments on Bale’s new deal.
At £130,000-a-week, Bale will now be earning more than double the club’s next highest paid player. Moreover, Bale’s new contract will be the sixth time the player has agreed terms with Tottenham after signing with the club in 2007. In 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012 the Welshman upgraded his contract at Spurs.
But there is reason Bale is about to renegotiate his terms with ruthless chairman Daniel Levy on an almost yearly basis. Bale is that good.
Spurs fans are also likely to be pleased with the £50m exit clause insert into Bale’s deal from 2014. Should the likes of Real Madrid remain interested in the forward, and there is no reason to believe they wouldn’t be, £50m seems a fair starting price for any future negotiations.

Not one that I have heard much from. However, it has been going around that he was in talks in a bunch of other places so I wouldn't be surprised.
