I know nothing about AS Monaco's gates and stuff, and the lack of taxes obviously helps, but will be interesting to see how FFP works out for them.

The stadium there would fit in nicely with the average for the English championship. they aren't drawing big gates. Its the lack of taxes but mostly the rich dude backing them. They've always had the lack of taxes and even when they were near the top of Ligue 1, they weren't spending huge money.

This is from two years ago when the takeover was completed.

Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev acquires majority stake in French club Monaco.

And here is a breakdown of his third party ownership works when it comes too transfers, think Tevez, Monster Mascherano, and most notably lately Falcao...... Its a hefty read......

Here is a tweet. Take it with a grain of salt right now, but it might be true. Moutinho and James Rodriguez will sign for Monaco for a combined fee of 70.

Moutinho and Rodriguez signed for 70m €.Rumour has it that Porto sold Rodriguez for 69m so to pay to Sporting only 25% of 1m from Moutinho

Would be incredibly smart if Porto did it that way for that very reason.

Its interesting that these Portuguese clubs are making out like bandits in the transfer market but its not quite what they seem. Third party ownership is a big part of that. They are are also paying relatively hefty fees for many of these players from South America (10m plus), not to mention paying wages above what a league the size of Portugal's would really necessitate - seems to be part of why they can hang onto these players a bit longer than they would in places like The Netherlands or Belgium.

This seems to have been confirmed for a total transfer fee of 70million pounds. Porto is so fucking insane when it comes to transfers. I think over the last 15 years they easily made over a billlion pounds in profit.

Gross. They don't net anywhere near that. As Ike linked to, a lot of their deals have third parties involved, especially those involving South American players. The home-grown players they sold to Chelsea back in the middle of the 00s were pretty much all pure profit. More recent sales are for bigger figures but without more involved.

Word is Victor Valdes is on his way there as well. Also snooping around Evra. Not very likely....but still. Monaco is Pat's former club.

Yup, one of the better and historic clubs in Portugal, broke as fuck, and and had a horrible year. Downward spiral?

Also, saw that Monaco is supposed to officially announce Falcao deal sometime here soon.
