I've been a Pens fan longer than you team has been in the league.

This series really shows the areas we need to improve. Goalie is obvious, as Fluery's best years are behind him and Vokoun obviously isn't a long term solution. We need to improve on defence, but I really think our biggest area is aggressiveness. We need a better checking line, and I think this series really showed how much we missed Jordan Staal. Sutter isn't a grinder like Staal was, and we really missed that third line taking minutes in the other teams zone, grinding down their top guys. Instead we had to play the top 2 lines more. You would think with Iginla and Morrow we could do that, but they have played to many top line minutes, they are not those types of guys.

CBC announcers said Crosby needs someone out there for protection now more than ever and I doubt they will get one unless they trade for it. Played two fairly easy series in New York and Ottawa and then play a tough Boston team and just couldn't get things going. Dump ins and crossing the blue line was sloppy every time, and the goal scoring for whatever reason died. This is a team who was averaging 4 goals a game and went to under 1 in this series. You can't blame Vokoun, he kept them in the series and game.

Should be an interesting off season for Pens. Interesting to think how things would have been if leafs played out that last 10 minutes.

I am actually shocked the media isn't making a huge deal about Iginla picking the Penguins instead of Boston. I thought that would be a huge story line, but when Iggy doesn't show up for the series, kind of hard to have a story line.

Probably loved that early golf trip this year with Carolina. but hey at least he plays with his brother.
