There we go, at least if you're going to bring this tired song and dance in here I want to be amused by it.

You could actually respond to my hockey-related thoughts about last night's Stanley Cup game that I posted in the Hawks/Bruins thread...that might cure your boredom. But actual discussion of hockey games in this horrendous forum is usually treated with indifference and/or outright contempt.

Vigneault seems like a good fit because the Canucks have always had a good powerplay, and been amongst the best in puck possession in the league whilst he has been in charge. He has also shown over the years that he will utilize zone starts to give the best players the most o-zone time possible. This is all basically the opposite of Torts' style.
You can go on about how disappointing the Canucks have been in the playoffs but it's also got to be said that he's had no choice but to play the Sedins and Luongo in that time. A headcase goalie and two star players who get rag-dolled in the playoffs and don't get the same protection from the refs that they would in the regular season ... doesn't sound like an ideal combination. Who would have been a better choice? Messier - no experience. Ruff - surely his coaching has been even more disappointing in recent years at least in terms of results. Eakins - off the market early on. Tippett - unavailable and so on ... Vigneault stands out as the best or one of the best candidates to me.Comment
