Good signing for Southampton. Him and Schneiderlein in the middle is a pretty dynamic midfield

It's good business and they will make up to 3 times as much as he cost them. They bought Wanyama for £900,000, made £12.5m. That's great business and they can reinvest it and end up with a dominant financial advantage for years to come. With largely token achievements to play for until Scotland's greatest club returns and brings some dignity back to its Premier League, it makes great sense to cash in on these guys in their prime.

Also I don't totally disagree and knew Victor would be wanting out soon and that Hooper will almost surely be soon to follow. I was just hoping that since they have a pretty open run to the CL every year they would take the opportunity to roll the dice with the talent they have in house now. If everything goes to shit, you still have the winter window and I can't see Wanyama decreasing in value in that time period.

Most of all I'm bummed because now because it means the team is looking to sell of before I get there and I have to believe Hooper will be making a strong push to return England and play in the EPL.

Guess it's time to buy a Tony Watt jersey

Realistically though the last 16 is as far as they are going. They aren't even as good as those Monaco or Porto sides which made it to the Final in that once in a generation year where all of the big clubs toppled. Celtic have always prioritized the bottom line and the only thing that matters to them is winning domestic trophies. They have been doing this for years now, buying low and selling high and while the new "financially responsible" Rangers are losing millions playing in the lower leagues Celtic are building up a huge war chest that they can use to keep on winning the league even when Rangers get back up. In the back of their mind they will be thinking about going one better than either they or Rangers have before and winning 10 in a row.
