Pettis gets hurt, fight off

TJ Grant named number 1 contender and will fight Benson Henderson for the LW title!

TJ Grant "hurt", Pettis now fighting for the LW title against Benson roughly the same time he was scheduled to fight Aldo for the FW title before he was injured

Now TJ Grant non "guaranteed" a title shot when he returns

Would've been Pettis' shot if he would have been patient and said no to the Aldo fight.

But that's rough when he's lost out on title fights on 2 or 3 previous occasions.

The way the UFC sets up title fights is the dirt worst. Arbitrary.

They just recently started using weight class rankings.

Rankings aren't even used for anything, done just to appease Fox.

Sure, they do mix it up giving out title shots based on a combo of business or simplicity (Diaz, Tate, Bigfoot, Chael...those just within the last year) and guys genuinely winning a string of fights (Grant, Pettis, Gustafsson, Hendricks, Wine land).

Some are wretched (Sonnen, Diaz, Tate) but why would you want to lock your hands up and take away flexibility in booking?

I know it would be great if things were cut and dry, you fight to get to the #1 contender spot and then get your title fight. But, sometimes, business trumps that.

Gotta make $$$.

Make no mistake, I would not have given Diaz the title fight at all...between losing and the failed drug test. Wouldn't have given Chael a shot, either.

Edgar went like 3 rematches in a row, than certain guys lose title fights, win another 3 or 4, nah, no title fight for you!

Cain and JDS are there best HWs, they will have 3 fights in how short of time? These guys might go a best of ten for there career

If JDS wins, assume Cormier gets the next crack....unless he and Cain have an understanding otherwise. If Cain wins, assume the next shot goes to Werdum (this is if Cormier ends up fighting Nelson and not Werdum).

Who knows what will end up happening with Overeem or Barnett.
