New Japan G1 Climax - All 9 shows on iPPV (8/1-8/11 on Ustream)

End to end video platform for media & enterprises. Live streaming, video hosting, transcoding, monetization, distribution & delivery services for businesses.

Pretty amazing development. You can buy all 9 nights of the tournament for $150, which works out to about $16 per show. There doesn't appear to be a way to buy shows individually yet, but i's sure there will be.

If you scroll down, you can hit CARD on any date and it will show the matchups. Also at the bottom is an awesome slideshow deal that shows the blocks and has everyone's W-L-D record & current point total.

I'm not dropping $150 on this, and I doubt many people will, but to have the option to do so is awesome. Also the ability to buy any of the shows is just amazing.

    New Japan is the best.

VOW twitter feed literally exploded when I posted this news. People are hyped, and it looks like more than a few are going to shell out the $150. One guy says he'll watch them all on VOD the following day (actually later in the day technically).

Thursday is 8/1. So it starts 5:30 am eastern on Thursday.

I'm thinking about buying them all, and watching them on VOD when I wake up every day. The finals can be watched live, because it starts 1am central on a weekend which is reasonable.

It's $150 for all shows, or nothing. No individual show tickets will be sold.

This is an odd & risky business decision. I will say this, they just got more money out of me. I was going to buy two or three shows, but now i'm looking for somebody to split the $150 with and will buy all 9.

Really interesting that they are doing the all or nothing. I suppose I get it, they'll get their $150 from the diehards, but I have to imagine not at least letting the Finals live on their own could hurt their buys.

I believe the thinking is this - I think they figure only diehards buy these things anyway, and diehards will likely want to see all 9 or be willing to pay for all 9 if it means missing the Finals.

They are offering ala cart in Japan, so that backs it up.

Yeah, I can't honestly be mad at the business decision THAT much, it's smart. If you want the Finals, you have to pay for the rest. I just wonder if they are limiting their $$$ by not at least letting the Finals be purchased separately, but again, I get why they do it.

At first I was somewhat upset by the decision but the more I think of it, the more it makes sense.

Not many nights are going to top night one. That was some lineup, and it delivered. Only Benjamin/Tenzan was not very good, and it was still watchable. Tonight:

                            1. G1 Climax - Block B: Karl Anderson vs, Shelton Benjamin
                            2. G1 Climax - Block B: Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Yujiro Takahashi
                            3. G1 Climax - Block B: Yuji Nagata vs. Toru Yano
                            4. G1 Climax - Block A: Prince Devitt vs. Lance Archer
                            5. G1 Climax - Block A: Satoshi Kojima vs. Katsuyori Shibata
                            6. G1 Climax - Block A: Togi Makabe vs. Davey Boy Smith Jr.
                            7. G1 Climax - Block B: Tetsuya Naito vs. Kota Ibushi
                            8. G1 Climax - Block B: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Minoru Suzuki
                            9. G1 Climax - Block A: Hirooki Goto vs. Kazuchika Okada
                            10. G1 Climax - Block A: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Tomohiro Ishii

I think Tanahashi vs Ishii positioned as the main event can be great. Ishii was arguably the star of night one as the feisty underdog. He's going to have a great tournament. Devitt vs Archer, with the size dynamic and heel vs heel intrigues me. Nakamura vs Suzuki. Naito vs Ibushi, a first time match. Fuck, this tournament is great.

Interesting that the six men in matches 8-10 are all 0-1.

Shibata says his boy KENTA taught him the G2S and he's going to use it to KO somebody in this tournament.
