Eddie Alvarez re-signs with Bellator, will face Chandler on PPV

Following a bitter contract dispute that lasted approximately eight months, Bellator announced on Tuesday that it had come to terms with Eddie Alvarez on a new contract that will see HIM rematch Michael Chandler for the Bellator lightweight title.

The Alvarez side probably conceded that these judges are not savvy to the PPV business, and don't operate on hypotheticals anyway. Bottom line is Bellator matched word for word, so there was a very good chance Alvarez was going to lose the case.

Now lets see if Bellator can truly match those terms.

Regardless, from a fan perspective I think everybody wanted to see Alvarez/Chandler II, and we're getting it. Toss in a Mo fight and possibly an Askren fight if they can get him signed, and this is shaping up to be one bad ass PPV.

He had too, they "matched" all the guaranteed money, Eddie would have never won in court

Like I said before, Eddie just had bad timing, he was second after Hector, now the third guy will get a better deal from the UFC

Yeah, technically they matched, so legally he was screwed even though we all know he stood to make more in UFC. He'll still make a shit ton of money with the PPV points and such, just far less than he would have on the GSP card obviously.

With that said, while I believe Eddie needed to honor his contract because Bellator matched, now Bellator has to honor theirs and truly match it term for term, even if the money ends up less.

We also found out that Bellator will allow him to opt out if he loses to Chandler. That's smart, because at that point there is no point in Bellator keeping him around and paying him all that big money because nobody will want to see a third fight if he's 0-2. Then he could go off to UFC for fresh matchups, but with far less leverage. So he might end up staying in Bellator anyway if UFC low balls him.

Bottom line, is Eddie needs to win this fight. If he does, Eddie/Chandler III would be the biggest fight in Bellator history imo.

What sucks is ppv wont do well and it sounds like it will be stacked with title fights

          Tito vs Rampage
          Alvarez vs Chandler
King Mo vs Newton for interim title
          Probably Curran vs FRODO
          Maybe Askren also

Bjorn said it will be a long ppv

Whats with your interim title? They'll just do Mo vs. Vegh.

Rumor has it Bellator has dropped all women's divisions.

Not a bad decision, hard to compete with UFC & Invicta for talent. Bellator women were shit.

Yeah, they let Eye, Herrig and Jessica go, good move, they missed the boat on WMMA and they need to concentrate on the men's divisions

                  They were barely fighting

With the exception of the 135ers in UFC, Invicta essentially has 90% of the best female fighters around.
