News out of the Dragon Gate show from this morning...

-Super Shenlong III, who lost the stip match on 8/1 and was forced to unmask, is now back to working as Yosuke Watanabe. Not to be confused with New Japan young lion Watanabe.

-Kotoka is now wrestling as CIBA:

When Team Veteran Returns merged with Windows last month, they kicked Kotoka out because he was deemed to inexperienced for the new unit. I think this is either his way of trying to get back in, or his way of telling CIMA to fuck off. Haven't seen translations yet.

Shingo lost the Open the Dream Gate in his first defense against YAMATO.

YAMATO mocked him for losing in his v1 defense, prompting Ryo Saito, the only other v1 loser, to make a challenge for he belt. So he gets the first shot.

The Millennials made a surprise return as tweeners leaning heel.

Tozawa is still a man without a unit, and will team with Shingo in the Tag League in September.

        9/29 PPV (so far)

IWGP Heavyweight Championship, K.Okada vs S.Kojima - set up at G1 with the Kojima win over Okada & Kojima's great tournament

IWGP Intercontinental Championship, S.Nakamura vs S.X.Benjamin - these guys have been feuding for months, and Shelton now has two pins over Nak, one in a tag, and one that eliminated Nak from G1. Nak has one successful defense over Shelton, in the match from Dominion that had the botch at the end.

NEVER Openweight Championship, M.Tanaka vs T.Naito - Naito lost his first challenge for this, in a finish that made no sense at the time, but Gedo & Jado have done it again. Naito vowed to win this title before using his G1 cash in for Okada's belt.

H.Tanahashi vs P.Devitt - THIS FEUD MUST CONTINUE!

        T.Yano vs M.Suzuki - coming off the G1 brawl

Things are looking dire in All Japan:

Maybe the Burining guys could head back to NOAH? NOAH doesn't really miss them from a business perspective, they are drawing the same without them.

EDIT: They even booked Masa Chono for this. He hardly ever wrestles anymore. Sad.

New Japan masked legends Jushin Thunder Liger & Tiger Mask made a successful V1 defense of the GHC Jr. Tag Team Title at NOAH’s Korakuen show earlier, beating Genba Hirayanagi & Maybach SUWA. Young tandem Daisuke Harada & Hitoshi Kumano challenged the New Japan team after the match, to which the champions took offense, suggesting the NOAH youngsters fight New Japan young lions first.

Keiji Muto's Wrestle-1 promotion will be an iPPV promotion on USTREAM, debut is 9/8: http://www.ustream.tv/w-1

This is the group of guys who quit All Japan because of the nutjob owner. It will be built around the native wrestlers against outsiders/freelancers, which is why there are so many TBD's on the card so far.

Any recent word on how All Japan is even going? I was figuring the exodus Version 2.0 would kill the company...

They are running four match shows and drawing next to nothing. SUWAMA vs Go Shiozaki has been a great feud for the Triple Crown, but there is zero roster depth and they will cease to exist if the owner decides he's done losing money.

                    Scrolled right past it.

That's bad. So bad. Some of the micro-indies Japan do better in tiny buildings...

Dragon Gate Summer Adventure Tag League:

The teams for the Summer Adventure Tag League have been published.

                      A Block
                      Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino
                      Masaaki Mochizuki & Don Fujii
                      Shingo Takagi & Akira Tozawa
                      YAMATO & BxB Hulk

                      B Block
                      K-ness & Dragon Kid
                      Jimmy Susumu & Jimmy Kanda
                      T-Hawk & Eita
                      Mondai Ryu & Cyber Kong

All league matches will be 1 fall with a 30 minute time limit. 2 points for any type of win, 1 point for a time limit draw, 0 points for any type of loss or a double count out. The highest ranked teams in each block at the end of league play will meet in the finals.

The tournament kicks of in Osaka on 9/7 and will run through 9/28 in Sambo Hall.

                      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Block A is loaded. I expect the Millennials (T-Hawk & Eita) to win Block B. I can see anybody aside from the old dudes (Mochi & Fujii) winning A Block. I am pulling for a Speed Muscle vs Millennials final, that would be a cool past vs future matchup.

Rob Conway's next NWA World Title defense in New Japan is Jushin Liger.

I am watching this now, and at intermission. The mystery opponents have all delivered and this show rules. Larry's boy Daisuke Sekimoto showed up. So did Masaaki Mochizuki. Koji Kanemoto. The list goes on. Fun as fuck show.
