So at work I am getting promoted to sports editor in about a week or so, which is awesome for me, and makes my job even more of a breeze than it already is.
The paper has an opinion column in our news section, but also one in the sports section for the sports editor to use when he wants. The guy now doesn't really use it much, which is something I'll be changing and doing more of on Thursdays.
The column though is called 'Riding the Pine', mostly because the first sports guy, my editor, is a huge baseball fan, and everyone after that was a baseball fan. Well I am not, and I don't want riding the pine as my column title. I want a hockey one. I have come up with a bunch of hockey terms, but I'm also trying to parlay this into a online site I'll eventually do. Things like 'The Fourth Period' is a magazine, and 'Overtime' is cliche.
So any good ideas you could think of for a column title would be great. Hockey guys should be able to come up with things fairly easily.
