    Rate that Match

I've been playing WWE 2k14, like many of us have. And I've been googling a lot of info on guys like Andre the Giant and Macho Man. And looking around I couldn't find anything or any site with Match Rankings. Maybe like an IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes but for wrestling. So now we have this thread. My Idea behind the ranking system. So I will post the first match, and feel free to rank and leave your impute and thoughts on the match as well.

First Off Let's go with what is, in my opinion, the best match in Wrestlemania History. Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage.

    Overall Performance Ranking: 10/10

    Lasting Appeal: 10/10

Final Thoughts: Everything was well executed. Told a great story and now everytime I go back to the match I get a nostalgic vibe from it. I still watch this match for education purposes(watch their timing, storytelling, ect.) And everything seems spot on. Possibly better than anyone could have imagined. Great match, love both Macho Man and the Dragon. Great showing, and possible the most entertained I have been for a WM match that didn't involve someone falling off a 20 foot ladder.

My only knock on that match is the stupid George Steele finish. It always bothered me, even as a kid. Otherwise, masterpiece.

I've watched it a thousand times, but probably haven't seen it in about ten years. It's one of those matches i'm afraid to watch because i'm scared it won't hold up. I watched the Eddy Guerrero/Dean Malenko ECW best of three match a few years ago, it didn't hold up, and i've been spooked to watch other matches ever since.

I can't think of a better sub-15 minute match than Savage-Steamboat. It is one of the few matches that changed how Vince thinks.

      Awesome match.

What would you guys rate the match out of 10, or 100? Thats where I want to get with this thread. And I will average them out and I can make a list at the top of the Forum.

          Just rewatched.

The thing that struck me the most was the commentary and how it was a million times better than what we get today. Ventura was amazing in this match. The thing with Ventura, is he was a heel, but he would say just enough things that were true to give himself credibility, to balance out his blatant bullshit. Monsoon could be hit or miss, but he was great here.

The pacing in this match is fantastic. There is a difference is working an intimate room, a basketball arena, and a dome. Everything in this match worked for a dome, from the big exaggerated bumps to the non stop action. Not a single rest hold to let the crowd breath, which in a dome could mean you lose them. Plus the storyline dictated that these men wouldn't be exchanging holds anyway. Randy never worked that way to begin with, but still.

This is a great match in any era, and the finish didn't bother me as much as it used to. I wouldn't give this a 10 if it was on RAW next week, probably an 8 or 9 which is still fantastic, but by the standards of the era this is easily a 10, and honestly probably would break the scale. This blows away everything else on the WMIII show and really blows away just about everything else from this era of the WWF. Just a great, legendary match.

If we are using a 10 point scale...

          Overall, 10/10

To me, its a 5/5. It is a definitive match. Hall of Fame match, even. If you were telling someone the history of Pro Wrestling, you would go into detail about this match. It is one of the most important matches in the history of the WWF.

You don't have some of the greatest matches in the history of the WWE without this match. It changed how Vince viewed and would use his mid-carders. "Stealing the show" doesn't happen if not for this match.

10's all around. It is one of those matches that is better every time you watch it. It was Randy Savage at his very best. For my money, the best sub-15 minute match ever.
