    Thorton, Orpik, Neal, Dion

What is everyone's view on these incidents?

Orpik's hit on Loui was one of those borderline shots. He wasn't really targeting the head but still caught him. He turned down a fight with Dougie Hamilton & Thorton which would have ended the mess there. Neal's knee to the head was a piece of shit. What was worst was him discussing it post game when he clearly is looking at Marchand when he did it. Thorton crossed the line a bit on Orpik by slewfooting him and punching him when down for sure. At some point though you can only see your teammates take so many shots until you lose it which is what seemed to happen to Thorton. The game was very chippy and the refs lost control early. The outcome was a freak ending though as Thorton for sure wasn't trying to knock him out cold. Guys take worst shots but Thorton just caught him weird (along the nose?)

Dion's boarding on Kevan Miller was ridiculous and the fact he didn't even get a penalty was even worst. This just shows the refs/players have no regard for each other and have no ideas what the fuck a penalty is even more.

Oh Bruins lost Kelly too from a Dupuis slash to the leg. That stuff goes on all the time but a two handed hack no call? C'mon refs.

Here is what I think the suspensions should be.

Thorton - 10 games instigator, headshot
Neal- 6 games kneeing to the head
    Orpik - 2 games headshot
    Dion - 5 games boarding

:waits for Ravin to chime in about how the Penguins are a clean team:

Anyone who knees someone is a dick. Quite honestly, i didnt think Neal had that in him. Even though Marchand is a huge fucking irritant. First thought was the players still salty about that sweep.

Best part of the Phaneuf stuff was this:

Jack Edwards is such a useless clown I everytime when he starts whining.

Anyways it was a pretty stupid hit and he knew it right away. Will probably get max 3 games out of it. I did lawl when there was no penalty called. I've been saying it for 3 years and I'll keep on it. The reffing in the league is beyond awful. I seen Phaneuf earlier this year high stick (I think it was an Islander) and was just shaking my head wondering how shit like that doesn't get called while the Islander player is skating off bleeding.

Jack is over the top but hes actually better than a ton of the idiot announcers. He pretty knowledgeable and while his love for the B shows he can be pretty impartial. I mean Hes the play by play guy, Brickley is the analyst. I think they do a good job with broadcasts compared to some of the shit on NBCSN and other regional stuff.

The league has a huge problem with officiating. I am not sure why and how they miss some things. They should have another official watching tape and a ref on the ice with him in the earpiece telling him what he sees. There's no reason for shit like that to not get called, just like the high sticks where guys leave and have to go get stiches.

Orpik deserved to be hit. In the manner Thorton did it? No, not quite. Orpik is a fake tough guy and goes around looking to blow people up and never answers for it. All of this shit works itself out eventually.

People are being pretty stupid about it though. Thorton went in to give Orpik a couple jabs in the face. Campbell was trying to engage Neal after the knee and Orpik skated over to get involved. You see this 9/10 times and the guy isn't gonna be carried off on a damn stretcher.

9 times out of 10 you don't see a coward punching a guys face while he's already on the ice either.

Both punches to the chops were harder and they didn't really see them coming. I'm not saying what Thorton did was right but harder hits to the face happen on a regular basis without guys needing to be stretchered off.

I never said the Penguins were a clean team. Neal is starting to get a history of things. When I first saw it, it looked like an accident (from TV hard camera view) but then when you see it, you see he went right for the head. Sit the bum. Glad he got six games. That is disgusting to see, as the player is already on the ice and you basically Randy Orton punted him in the head.

I wrote a column on all this today for the paper, basically saying, there isn't a fighting issue in the NHL, there is a respect issue. Until players learn to respect each other, injuries will continue to happen.

And Boston is one of the worst teams in terms of taking runs at guys. You ever notice how a lot of major things that happen in the league, Boston is normally on one side of things.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

                      "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

I disagree. The Penguins are always involved. Just the with the Islanders and that line brawl. Remember this crap? Asam crosschecks the guy in the throat and then punches him (harder than Thorton did) in the head.

Boston is tough, Pittsburgh is cheap. I think that's the consensus around the league. At least out here on the West.

Like LA is tough, Vancouver is cheap.

I actually think Boston is so well known for crossing the line that they get away with it more than others, refs let it get out of hand because "Bruins will be Bruins".
