Luongo to Florida!

Funny story, I did a TV show today (like OTR/PTI) and we talked about Luongo and if he would get traded. We taped it at 1pm here in Alberta. I got back to my office at 2:30 and Luongo is traded.

I figured Florida was the place he would go, but have no idea what Mike Gillis is thinking. Trades Luongo and Schneider in 9 months. All that stuff that happened last year and not both goalies are gone. Go from two #1's to none. Jury is still out on Eddie Lack, and I'm not going to say he is a number one goalie right now.

Clearly Vancouver is in full give up, rebuild mode, and if they trade Kesler tomorrow, I suspect a lot of other stuff will happen with them in the off season. Might be what they need to get away from the constant Luongo talk.

Now they just need to get rid of Tortz. Guy is not an NHL coach and needs to go.

Well, Luongo finally heads back to Florida. We've heard this rumored in some way for about three years now, no? I do agree that Vancouver needed to get away from the Luongo talks, but why trade Schneider before it? I know the goalie market is pretty deep, and has been for awhile. I guess that is what you get from not having a great direction.

By this point, I think Gillis should at least have a hot seat over there, but I can see him getting another coach and this rebuild to prove he can get the Canucks back into contention.
