Leafs set to name Brendan Shanahan as Team President

Pretty interesting. On one hand the inexperience sort of scares me but on the other hand I think a fresh approach is going to help to a very stale leafs front office which is a combination of old and new hat from the ownership change a year and a half ago.

Speculation about Nonis being fired and the entire staff and coaching staff being wiped out is being speculated on right now.

Yeah, you don't bring in Shanahan, who had a cushy job in the front office, to keep guys in place for a year to "evaluate." He is cleaning house and bringing his own people in.

Steve Yzerman has worked out pretty well in Tampa Bay so far, but who knows if Shanahan is going to follow suit. I know everyone likes to copy what is working though, that trend never goes away. That fresh approach was needed, regardless of who it is coming from though.

As long as you bring in former players for their strengths it is fine. Shanahan is a front office guy, so the President spot is good for him. It is why a guy like Yzerman works well as a GM because he is good with players, and why Roy is a great player coach.

It's when you throw guys like MacTavish in that you have the issue. He isn't good as a coach or a GM.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

      "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

Funny because some people seem to be smartening up due to his work.
