The string of great UFC shows should continue this Saturday with the latest FOX card from San Jose.
FOX Main Card
Robbie Lawler vs. Matt Brown
The winner gets the next title fight against champion Johny Hendricks. Lawler is 4-1 (lost to Hendricks) in the UFC since returning last year and has looked outstanding. He knocked out Jake Ellenberger in May. Brown has a 7-fight win streak in the UFC and has finished all but one of those fights. His last three wins earned him a total of four fight bonuses. He finished Erick Silva in May. This one should be a fight of the year candidate.
Anthony Johnson vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Rumble Johnson returned to the UFC in April and was impressive in beating Phil Davis, a legit top 10 light heavyweight. He is 7-0 in his past seven fights, fighting mostly across regional groups before WSOF. Has not lost since 2012 when Vitor Belfort choked him out after AJ missed weight. He's never missed weight at 205-pounds, by the way. Lil Nog is 38-years-old and has not fought since February 2013 (beat Rashad Evans) due to a back injury. He was a top 5-6 light heavyweight in 2013, but Johnson is the new stud trying to get into the title mix.
Clay Guida vs. Dennis Bermudez
Guida is coming off an impressive win over Tatsuya Kawajiri in April and continues to try and establish himself as one of the better featherweight contenders (2-1 at 145, one loss was to Chad Mendes). Bermudez is an awesome fighter out of Long Island, NY, is on a six-fight win streak and gets his first fight against a 'name' fighter in Guida here. This fight is also notable for being Bermudez's first time fighting on the main card of a Fox show or PPV.
Josh Thomson vs. Bobby Green
"The Punk" had been considering retirement after a bullshit (my opinion) split decision loss to Benson Henderson in January. His broken thumb healed up and he's back in action. Thomson (a native of San Jose), on paper, is the better fighter. But, Bobby Green (healthy after an injury forced him from a fight in the spring) is on a seven-fight win streak (3-0 UFC).
