Not sure what to make of it. The camera pans away at a crucial time. This is basically a snuff film now isn't it ?
Best reason to have a license.

This video doesn't look good for Stewart as he appears to accelerate as he approaches Ward on the track. When you accelerate a sprint car, it goes sideways and that is what appears to have happened. Was there intent? That is going to be hard to prove but Stewart's temper is legendary and likely played a role in this incident.

He should have had more control. Of himself and the car. I think his career is over.

Whether Tony did it on purpose or not... why the fuck would you walk right down into the racing line? Plus he's wearing all black in a poorly lit corner. He was nearly hit by someone else before Tony hit him.

There won't be any criminal charges, nor there should be. The victim and Stewart both contributed to the death and unless the man says otherwise, no intent to do harm, regardless if he sped up....on a racing track.

I can't agree. A man died. Does the deceased share responsibility? You bet. It being dark is no excuse. That track is lit well enough for them to be racing @ top speed around the track. Stew's rep & his superior skill tells me he got reckless. You can't just tell him to go sit in the corner.

Yeah, this could have been avoided. So much is made about how crazy good these drivers are (and for good reason), yet Stewart isn't supposed to be at blame here?

                      Ridiculous.

The guy is a fucking idiot for getting out of his car and approaching Stewart's car like that either way.

What should the punishment be for accidentally hitting a guy who gets out of the car during a race on the track?

Well, at the very least it can be argued that the punishment should be akin to the typical punishment for vehicular manslaughter. Considering that is likely what someone would be charged with if they killed someone that stumbled into the street in front of them.

What would happen to a police officer who lost his cool & needlessly killed someone he was trying to arrest? I think the crimes are similar. When U are on that track, you are given permission to do things with a car you can't do anywhere else, because you are expected to be an expert in handling the car & yourself. Same for a cop w/a gun. He can't control himself, he can't participate in the sport. He isn't qualified.
