Jon Jones tests positive for cocaine and enters rehab

You have to be pretty much addicted to cocaine if you can't put it down for a week before a fight that people have been waiting to see for months. Fortunately for him, the levels were low enough that it will not invalidate his win this weekend.

Jon ‘Bones’ Jones Enters Drug Rehab Just Days After Defending His Title

Officials say the UFC light heavyweight champion tested positive for cocaine

Mixed Martial Arts sensation Jon Jones has reportedly entered a drug rehabilitation center after testing positive for cocaine just days after successfully defending his UFC light heavyweight title in Las Vegas.

“Jones has checked himself into a rehab center,” Bob Bennet, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, told ESPN on Tuesday. “And at this time, I would direct any further questions regarding his situation to Mr. Jones or the UFC.”

Traces of benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, were found in a pre-fight urine test taken by the champ. However, in accordance with World Anti-Doping Agency regulations, Jones’s win on Jan. 3 over Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 will stand, as the fighter was not on the substance during competition.

UFC President Dana White said the organization supported Jones’s decision to seek professional help.

“I am proud of Jon Jones for making the decision to enter a drug treatment facility,” said White in a statement. “I’m confident that he’ll emerge from this program like the champion he truly is.”

No wonder he had so much energy. Wheres LiquidRob ?I want to know what the usual punishment is in these situations and if its considered performance enhancements. Pretty sure at least one Diaz boy was in trouble for marijuana.

KOF, this is all super sketch. So jones tests positive for cocaine, but the kicker is... Wait for it... Cocaine is NOT on the banned substance list. Jones was not even aware he had failed the drug test until AFTER the fight.

Now it's all about who you can believe. This is all from the NSAC, and is something they have royally fucked up on. Punishment lies in the hands of Dana and the ufc. They can punish as they like, but from the looks of it my guess is Dana throws out the ole "he knows he was wrong and jumped right into rehab" spill. My guess is jones is in "rehab" for 6-8 months aka maybe a meeting here and there plus all the training he usually does and he goes on to fight the winner of Gus and AJ at the end of the year. Maybe a little before. I doubt there is a stripping of the belt. This is just more for his "bad boy" image.

Now I want to see how all this purgery stuff goes that he has going on... Stay tuned

NSAC Director Bennett: CIR Testing Done on Jones Sample, Came Back Clean

LAS VEGAS—In the wake of Jon Jones' failed test for cocaine metabolites, social media lit up with discussion over Jones' curious testosterone to epitestosterone ratios.

Victor Conte, the man who was famously involved with the Biogenesis doping scandal, took to social media to note that Jones' T/E ratio was out of line with the norm.

Mixed martial arts journalists, like Bloody Elbow's Brent Brookhouse, began pushing for the Nevada commission to perform Carbon Isotope Ratio testing on Jones' samples from the December 4 and December 18 drug tests.

Luckily, this is a situation where speculation could quickly be ended. Jon Jones' drug test samples still exist and a simple Carbon Isotope Ratio test could be conducted to find the result. Put simply, a CIR test would be able to determine if the testosterone in Jones' system was synthetic or natural.

But during a Thursday interview with Bleacher Report, Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Bob Bennett said that carbon isotope testing was indeed done on Jones' pre-fight drug tests, and that the results came back clean.

"CIT testing was done, and according to our doctor, none of the results were a concern," Bennett said.

Bennett said that three tests were done during each of the random tests: urine, blood testing for human growth hormone and a blood passport test.

"The only negative was testing positive for cocaine metabolites," Bennett said. "We've gotten a litany of emails about the testosterone. We have a doctor we work with whose work has been impeccable for the last seven months. He does not have a concern on the last two tests."

Bennett said the commission is awaiting results of the post-fight drug test administered to Jones after his win over Daniel Cormier at last Saturday's UFC 182 event. He also noted that the commission will be discussing Jones' issues during a Monday meeting in Las Vegas, and that punishment for Jones is indeed an option on the table.

Bleacher Report has filed Freedom of Information Act requests for all of Jones' pre-fight drug test results—including results of the carbon isotope testing—and we'll update this story with more information once we receive them.
