Lewis was like a physically-gifted version of Larry Holmes with less heart...like if Larry Holmes was the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz.

It would have been amazing to see an Ali/Frazier type matchup with Lewis. Holyfield/Lewis was pretty good, but Evander was pretty run down when they met. Tyson was obviously out of gas too. Lewis will always be underrated because of the level of fighters he faced. I think he would have done well in ANY other era though. It's a shame he really didn't have anybody to lift up his legend like Ali had. Not that I think he was Ali good...but he was very very good nonetheless.
Yes, I know about Holmes' fights with Norton, Shavers & Snipes and he showed a massive amount of heart in each of those. I'm not taking that from him at all, Holmes is one my faves, just think you're being a little rough on Lewis.Comment

I see what you're saying but that seems a little harsh. Honestly, I don't think we can really say what type of heart he had. He was never in a major fight where he had to gut out a victory. The two losses everyone bashes him for, he was legitimately knocked "out", not just knocked down. That's more a commentary on his jaw, not his heart.Comment

Senser and I post at the same site. seems likely that we'd end up in the same threads seeing as we have similar interests. And actually I'm only on Cyn's ass. So Shut the fuck up homophobe.
Who the hell did Tyson ever beat? You bitch about Marciano's empty wins. Tyson was beating up a bunch of nobodies and washed up losers before Buster took him out. After the Buster fight Tyson was merely an above average fighter.Comment

It seems, after reading this thread, that Roberto and myself see eye to eye.

I'll say it again, a fight between Ali & Lewis would likely be a boring affair. We have two guys who were at their best when they stayed away from their opponent. A fight like that may get interesting in the later rounds if one of them thinks they're behind on points but I couldn't see it being a classic. Remember, styles make fights. These two styles don't usually equal excitement.
Or
Lennox would lose very late with a TKO because Ali was just much faster and was so great at landing punches on everybody he faced, it would eventually take a toll.

I think the fight would have one of two results. Go to UD, I think Ali would most likely win with his grandstanding/crowd pleasing fancified stuff.

He wasn't knocked out, and I see you added quotes to that out, most likely because of the TKO he recieved against Oliver McCall was bullshit. The ref thought Lennox was out on hsi feet, but he shoulda given the champion a chance to defend his title and not call the fight like that. I think we can both agree about that noComment
