Duke has some lofty expectations but they are on the 2nd tier of top teams, below the top 5 IMO.
Seth Curry is handed the reigns at PG...he's a pure shooter and his PG skills are developing. He's the key to this team IMO because the exhibition games we showed difficulty setting up the offense. If that fails, we may see some of FR-PG Cook who IMO is the best PG on this team but he's a freshman and he's still working himself back from his knee.
Austin Rivers has high expectations as well but he's going to be learning on the fly. in HS he possibly had the worst set of teammates in HS I've seen in a while so he has to learn not to take over, he has good people around him. Dawkins is another kid i'm excited to see him develop especially attacking the rim where he can fly. Ryan Kelly starting at the 4, he improved a TON...and his pure shooting ability from mid range and him being able to create offense from the wing will help as well. The Plumlees will have to be rebound machines, especially SR Miles, who needs to show improvement on his hands. and Mason, who needs to show some sort of improvement on his low post skills. Right now he's still raw and is a bit like Javale McGee in terms of his game...
Our freshman class is VERY talented, led by Rivers and should help in terms of depth. Look out for Alex Murphy to contribute, he's a high flying kid with high energy and gives Duke a true SF.
