RMU update (because I know Pitty is dying for one with how bad Pitt is):
The Colonials won their fourth straight game last night with a 69-61 victory over Mount St. Mary's. RMU is now 16-11 overall and 11-1 in the NEC, one game ahead of second (technically two, but the Colonials swept the season series with Bryant and hold the tiebreaker - plus Bryant has played two games less than RMU due to the winter storm).
There's not a doubt in my mind that this will be the last season for Andy Toole in Moon Township. Dealt with four suspensions and two players leaving the program, Toole has excelled with his best coaching job yet, leading a team with just eight scholarship guys to nearly an undefeated conference mark (a one-point loss to CCSU being the lone blemish). The team has adjusted from its usual man-to-man principles to exclusively a 2-3 zone defense and have excelled in it, even though the roster has just one player over 6'6" (Stephen Hawkins - 6'10").
Karvel Anderson is one of two overwhelming favorites for NEC Player of the Year (along with Alex Francis of Bryant), even though he struggled yesterday. Anderson is averaging 18.8 PPG while making 51.6% from the field (47.0% 3PT, 78.9% FT) and has gone over 25 points four times, including a ridiculous 36-point effort at Sacred Heart on 15-19 shooting. Prior to last night, his eFG% (8th - 65.2), TS% (14th - 66.8), and ORtg (18th - 132.3) all ranked in the top 20 nationally.
