I don't get the Philly trade either. Why would you trade your 23 year old All-Star? At best that New Orleans pick will be a mid to early 20's pick and by that time non of the supposed "future stars" of the draft will be available. I am not a fan of Michael Carter-Williams.

You are expecting the Pelicans to make the playoffs with Jrue? What team do they bump out? And also Devin Harris was an all-star. If Rose and Rondo were healthy, is Jrue an all-star? Sixers were at best an 8-10 seed going into next year with him and now they are most likely picking in the Top 5 and will have another pick around 10-12, plus have Noel and MCW as pieces to build with.

Next year Hawes comes off the books. They will be paying 4 guys currently on the roster if Richardson doesn't retire plus Noel and MCW on rookie deals. So looking at next summer the Sixers will have cap for two max deals, and have two lotto picks. I don't see how that is bad for a rebuilding team.

Holiday put up good numbers regardless of whether Rondo or Rose were healthy or not and he is only 23 years old. I am not sure of NO will make the playoffs or not, but I don’t see them being bad enough to get a high lottery pick either. Having the 10-12th pick in next year’s draft is not going to be good enough to get you one of the supposed elite prospects. IMO Noel and MCW are high risk players, but as I mentioned I am not a fan of MCW.

Philly having the money to sign two max players means nothing to me, because it isn’t as if they will be able to sign to max contract caliber players. Having a possible top 5 pick and mid-1st from NO isn’t that great to me either. IMO people are just looking at the elite prospects (of which there are about 2-4) and categorizing the entire draft as being so great. If you don’t have a top 3-4 pick you really aren’t going to be getting a “can’t miss” star caliber player.
I am not saying Philly is in a bad position to rebuild, but I don’t get the point in trading your elite PG who is only 23 years old in hopes of tanking your season and getting two high draft picks. NO isn’t going to be a bad team next year. I can see them winning about 40 games or so.

Who said NO is a playoff team? I said they would be improved to the point where their draft pick at best will be a mid-1st (late lottery), which takes you out of the elite prospect range. So, because Vasquez had a career year he is now comparable to Holiday? Philly basically is taking a gamble on getting some high draft picks to rebuild.......Holiday is a proven young commodity that you can easily build around as well and this is my point.

The Sixers still have their pick, which the way this roster is built, there is a good chance they do end up with one of those guys you listed. Plus the Pelicans could land you the 8-12th pick which in next years draft is still a nice piece to have. Having possibly Wiggins and Noel plus MCW and the other player picked next year and maybe one decent free agent signing makes this team a lot more appealing going into 2015 then it was coming into this year with Jrue. Jrue/Richardson/Turner/Thad/Hawes keeps this team in hell.

As I had to defend on Twitter, the OKC deal was about more than getting a lottery pick. It was almost 100% financially driven. Anything they got on top was just the cherry on top. CBA and luxury tax penalties made it all but impossible for them to sustain that roster as constructed. Only options were to trade Ibaka, amnesty Perkins and hope that Harden took a massive pay cut.

I had to scream this on Twitter while fuckface Simmons rambled on during the broadcast about how it cost the Thunder a championship and how it was an awful move.
