Terrence Williams will be traded from the Nets to the Rockets in a three-team deal that also involves the Lakers.

New Jersey will get Sasha Vujacic and a 2011 first-round pick from L.A., as well as a 2012 first-round pick from the Rockets, while the Lakers get veteran Joe Smith (and rid themselves of Vujacic). Smith can't officially be dealt until the 15th so the deal can't be made official until Wednesday, and more elements could surface. Like the deal for the Rockets. Lee and Williams were two of my favorite Nets, they both have potential.
 
So much for the Knicks dealing Anthony Randolph to Houston for that 1st rounder.

And depending on if you believe it, this move was made in part because the Nets are trying to establish pieces they can move to Denver. They think if they can acquire Melo in a trade, they'll have a shot to convince him to stay between February and the summer.

If I'm New Jersey, I can't take that chance. Why would you give up multiple first round picks, Derrick Favors and more for a guy who may very well be a few-month rental for a non-winning team?

They won't. There's no way they'll make a trade for 'Melo without an extension in place.
 
It's all good in theory to try to get Melo here...he's a better fit for the Nets than Knicks though TBH.

But the lure of the Knicks>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Nets.
