Yeah, Ron Meyer had an interesting assessment of Tony Eason. Eason was frail...his body was the same as Sam Bradford's. But Eason was a very good QB, and I liked how Meyer referred to him as "just another guy" (or something like that). Eason's 1984 season was pretty incredible for a 1st year starter. Meyer is was fired at the midway point of the 1984 season, and I think he is still the only coach in NFL history to be fired in midseason while having a winning record (5-3). Eason's 1986 season was astounding..# 2 offense, 3328 yards, 19-10, 62% for a team that had the worst running game in modern NFL history.
Thats the part that stood out to me the most. He says hes just another guy. Im not old enough, but I vaguely remember him being a bit better than "another guy". I chuckled and kind of put two and two together when he said the suits would concede defeat and let him sit in the war room. This guy was bitter as fuck, never wanted Eason, and must have had some shit going down behind the scenes causing his firing.
