This game has a stereoscopic view where you can split the screen in 2, turn the 3D mode on your TV to match and put on the glasses. Well let me say this was pretty cool. You definitely see the gun is layered and in front of everything else. The reticule also sticks out. I was at the part where you launch the guided missile into the Soviet rocket.....holy shit that was pretty cool. I probably would not play with it online but campaign I am going to play the whole thing in 3D.

what does this mean in bold? how was the show? is this all on PS3 or can the 360 do 3d too? 1700 for a 55 inch 3d doesnt sound bad at all

hard to explain.....but you can do it if you have the game. Just go to options and pick 3D. you will see 2 images on the TV. Like split screen play left and right. Then you go into your TVs 3D settings and it will ask you what the screen looks like and u pick that setting. Then put your glasses on and the screen is clear as crystal.

PS3 have very few games on 3D. I will try the show now.

what sounds confusing is why black ops would split the screen. after you set your tv and put on the glasses does the screen look like 1 screen or is it still split?

Nice info. I was planning on buying a 3DTV next year. I know the prices are nice now. I can wait till they get a little lower and want to see if they come out with some universal glasses or the price of the glasses come waaayyy down.

Well I just played the 3D demo of "MLB the Show". It is a preview of what to expect for the new game in 2011.

I can honestly say I was impressed. The players really do stand out. when the ball is in play you dont notice anything but the whole pitcher batter experience is very cool. I mean it is not in for face 3D. It is just a cool feature that enhances the game experience. I would play this soley in 3D next season.

I cant wait for games like Killzone 3, Motorstorm 3 and The Show 2011 come out and are fully 3D. Not the stereoscopic stuff. My TV instantly recognized that the show was 3D content and told me to put the glasses on.

I wonder though if this 3D shit is harmful on the eyes. I feel like my eyes are working a bit more during this mode....not sure.

I heard Madden is in 3D is that true?

I'm getting the 46" 8000 series LED 3D HDTV tomorrow at Best Buy. I checked out the link from Paul's (and a ton of other places with higher prices) and the only thing I would be saving is tax plus I have about $300 in Reward Zone points and a 12% off coupon to use on the matching Samsung HW-451 Sound Bar w/wireless sub-woofer. Best Buy is also running the same promo with the Samsung 3D starter kit (2 pairs of glasses, Shrek Movies), a Samsung Blu-Ray player and WiFi link for the TV included for the sales price.

I know the content is thin out there right now but the main reason that I decided to go with 3D was that there was only a couple of hundred dollars difference in the cost and the kick ass bundle. I'm looking forward to checking out some Black Ops on the PS3 and ESPN3D broadcasting full-time starting next month.

Im with MVP on this. 3DTV has never been something I am interested in.

Try it..BB was always broken..but Costco in my area had a great working display...and WOW..it won me over.

Obviously 3d tech and content is concern but ..wow really cool (at least for a sitting)

My main concern is whether or not my receiver can handle 3D. How can I check?

I know the Giant Bomb guys were talking about this recently. Both Ryan Davis and Gerstmann recently bought 3D tv's but Gerstmann said his receiver wasn't compatible.

How many sources do you have, "must" you use the A/V to switch inputs/audio ?

Easy answer is check your model and search it over on AVSforum.

Plugging your sources into the TVs HDMI inputs and using an optical cable from BR/PS3 etc for digital audio is the easiest "no upgrade needed option".
If your TV passes through digital audio ((not a given btw)) it would be easy setup.

If you can hear the difference between DD5.1 and uncompressed audio from blu rays than a new receiver may be needed if not compatible.

How are the angles ? Im a fidgety fuck when Im playing games and im always reaching for stuff. Wondering if sitting off axis or taking your eyes off screen to reach for remote or cel and going back to screen causes any eye adjustment or strain.

oh and um...my buddy wants to know about 3d porn.

I get a little eye strain at first then it settles in and doesn't bother me. I think you'll be fine. The panny plasma ia probably the best 3D display out now. The non glasses ones are due out end of 2011 but I think they are going to be very expensive and I heard pic quality in 3D suffers.

This will be the main setup in the house, replacing a 55" Sony Grand Wega LCD. I did some research on the soundbars and while the Mitsu TV that has the built in soundbar is the best, the Samsung gets pretty good marks and will meet my needs. One of the issues with these newer super thin TV's is that the onboard speakers are probably not as good as what you had on your older big screen.

I was talking to my wife about that last night. The primary reason for going with a 46" was to mount it over the fireplace. I was showing her last night how we could still keep the 55" but still reclaim a huge chunk of space in our living room over the old caddy corner setup we had to go with on the Sony set. It will probably cost me a new sectional couch with a chase lounge to get her to agree to that setup but I would be able to go with the bigger TV.

the amazing thing is that the Bezel around the screen is so small that it doesnt seem that much bigger. I had a 46 and now have a 55 and while the screen is bigger the TV doesn't seem that big at all.

Oh yeah.......BE VERY CAREFUL taking it out of the box and mounting it. Make sure you have 2 people. The TV is so thin that it is a bit flexible. You can crack it if you are no careful. The people at Pauls that set up my dads say people crack them more than you think. Be Very Cautious and careful!!!

Lately I have played 3 games in 3D.

Gears of War 3
Batman
Uncharted 3.

So far the most impressive one so far was actually Gears of War 3. They actually split the screen in and when you turn on the 3D on your TV it becomes one image and with the glasses it looks nice. I have played Gears the whole time with the glasses on without problem.

Batman looked really nice at first but I think because the game is so dark I actually turned it off. I think it uses stereoscopic 3D.

Uncharted I played last nite and while it was very nice but very much the same as Batman, too dark at times. I turned it off as well but when I got the jungle outside I turned it back on. I noticed some weirdness in the 3D at times as well. This uses stereoscopic 3D.

Wondering if anyone else is trying these games out in 3D. I wonder if my TV is just not that great at it. I have seen a sony TV in the sony store that looked amazing, I was like damn my TV in 3D doesn't look like that.
