6 Reasons To Buy A PlayStation 3 Instead Of An Xbox 360

this article is a great troll attempt.

#1 the PSN is free - well so what....free doesnt make up for laggy connections and a half asses community. I would rather pay for a quality service than one that gets hacked and runs like shit half the time

#2 the Blu Ray drive - again, who cares? the same people who rave about the blu ray drive are the same ones who only use netflix. having blue ray only matters if you actually use it.

#3 Better Exclusives - better? maybe. They do have more of them. But more doesnt mean better. Alot of their exclusives are not worth paying $60 for. Do you want to pay $60 for LBP2? or pay $60 for resistance? why pay for resistance and have nobody to play with when you can buy battlefield or COD (which are both way better) and have friends to play with. Uncharted 2 and 3 are no doubt fantastic games, but while you are off playing those, your friends will be off playing those great non exclusive titles on XBL

#4 the ps3 controller has rechargable batteries. No doubt this is a big deal...that is until you spend $15 on a rechargeable battery pack from the drug store. The PS3 controller is shit compared to the 360 controller for gaming. So its well worth it to buy a set of rechargeable. I do agree that having a built in battery is nice for the ps3 controller though.

Aside from the obvious fanboy aspect to this article, it annoys me that some of the really great things about the ps3 were left out of the discussion. Things that are legitimate reasons for someone to buy a ps3 rather than a 360. Things like PS+, built in wi fi (although the 360 has that now), HD cables, better media center, more reliability and better durability, Sunday Ticket, overall value for the cost.

There are real reasons to choose a ps3 over 360, just not any of these idiotic fanboy reasons.

I will never get enough of Xbox homers talking about how much better Live is. When is the last time ANY of you have played a game online? I've played R&C, Starhawk, Max Payne, Battlefield 3 and others recently and experience ZERO issues. ZERO. And I play witha wireless connection. Better connections online on 360 is the biggest farce in gaming these days. 360 has party chat and that's fucking it. If party chat is wirth $60 to you then great.

I swear this article just echoes shit that I have been saying for years and the same reason why when friends or family ask what console to get, when they can only affors one, my answer is simple. PS3 every time. I had one co-worker that didn't listen to me and got a 360 instead. She has regretted it ever since. She's on a very strict buget and has wedding coming up. She loves playing all sorts of games from shooters to Viva Pinata, but she can't afford to pay for Live anymore and honestly she thinks it's bullshit.

This is the keypoint right here and exactly what I said on my previous post. I also love how Maynard thanked it. I wonder if he even read the post? The bottom line is that people "think" they are getting a better service but they're not. Online gaming and servers is still controlled by the individual developers. You're not getting dedicated servers on Live. You're getting party chat and faster patches (normally no more than a minute compared to several mintutes on PS3) and that's fucking it.

The "Online is better on Xbox" is such a crock of shit. If anything, it's worse with the big games like CoD. I don't think anyone can dispute that there are more online players on CoD on 360 than PS3. Guess what that means? More hackers. More people finiding exploits. More griefers.

yeah i agree. this is a predominant ps3 forum because its mainly a sports gamer forum. so your leagues are mostly on ps3. other games though, are driven by 360. take that gaming night for example. most of the sign ups were for 360 because they were not sports games.

Yeah, it's not. I would say I play my PS3 much more. Besides the exclusives I've been buying most multiplatform games on PS3, as the past year or so those versions almost always seem to surpass the 360 versions, even if slightly. Plus, one of my favorite online games is Bf3 and the PS3 community for that game, on this site anyway, is far and away bigger than on 360.

The only games I really buy on 360 are ones that are on sale (a lot of times the 360 version is cheaper, especially used sales from Gamefly) or EA sports games like NCAA or Madden because the last few years the PS3 versions were obvious ports.

I don't remember the last time I experienced a shitty/laggy connection via PSN... works fine and I'm also wireless.

I prefer the PS3 MAINLY for the following:

- Friends (hometown & internet buds)
- Controller
- First Party Titles/Exclusives
- PS Plus
