Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan fined $25K each

Sorry but this is bullshit. Players are getting fined $50K for hitting someone in the helmet, but the NFL is saying getting in a fist fight on national television is only half as bad?

Both these players should be suspended, with Andre Johnson taking a more severe punishment, maybe a couple games. No reason Johnson shouldn't have been fined at least $100,000+ if they are going to fine $50K for a helmet to helmet hit in the heat of the action.

Johnson's not getting suspended only because the MAX he should deserve would be one game. However, the Texans next game is on NFL network and I doubt the NFL wants less revenue from that game.

Consider the damage caused. Helmet-to-helmet hits cause concussions and brain-trauma, which is severely debilitating in the long-term. Landing a haymaker is not likely to cause the same degree of damage unless its Shane Carwin throwing it.

I don't think either man should have been suspended. A stiff fine is just. Now if this happens again in the future between these two players or involving either, then they have every right to suspend them.

Main reason AJ wasnt suspended is because the Texans are appearing on the NFL Network this Thursday, Yeah I said it. The NFL doesnt want The Texans minus the face of their franchise and the paltry ratings that would bring.

AJ and Cort have a history of scuffles over the last 4 years ,its not like this is an isolated incident. none of the previous scuffles between these two guys have had haymakers. About 5 texans threw punches at titans last year in week 2 i believe it was.

I think both guys shouldve been suspended but i'll accept the outcome.

The hits and the damage caused by playing the game is probably going to become a big (and negative, obviously) issue for the league within the next few years. There are already rumblings. I believe this is why the NFL is beginning to take such a hard stance on helmet-to-helmet hits and concussions.

My Thoughts: Should be fined the same amount, if not more.

NFL's Thoughts: Probably because it's not life-threatening. All you get from a fistfight is a bad reputation and a bruised face. With H2H hits, you can be paralyzed for life and possibly die. That's probably why the NFL fines those hits more.

To my knowledge, Johnson has never been disciplined before. If Johnson was someone with a history of discipline issues, a suspension would be in order. I have a feeling the NFL is taking the approach that Finnegan had it coming to him for being a dirty player. And the Texans playing on Thursday night probably had something to do with it as well.

I'm suprised there were no suspensions. I know football is a physical game, and sometimes players have a momentary lapse of judgement, lose their temper, and maybe throw a punch. But this was an out and out street fight, and it looked really bad. If this happened on a baseball field or a basketball court, there would be multi game suspensions.

You would think since the NFL is showing so much interest in protecting their players, there would be a bigger deterrment than a $25,000 fine for acting like their outside a Michael Vick birthday party.

Favorite partof the fight was when Johnson caught Finnegan with the last uppercut Finnegan looked shook as hell and brought both arms up to his face like he was going to start covering up...then he got pulled away and started talking shit like he wasn't hurt and had actually done something.
