Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan fined $25K each

It came up briefly, by myself, in the week 11 thread regarding Seymour's hit to Big Ben that he was ejected for. The issue here is that someone like James Harrison got nailed for a 75k fine for a hit that wasn't even FLAGGED in the game, yet instances in which players are flagged and EJECTED, they get fined less. What!?

There is no doubt that Andre lit the kid up. Finnegan asked for it. I just don't see how he is not suspended when he clearly should be. Not only that but he needs to make an apologetic statement.

Same with Finnegan but he isn't as big of a name as Johnson.

IMO Blount was railroaded by the media for that punch, because it really wasn't that serious. The kid was talking junk after they won, got in the face of Blount and said something and Blount punched him. After that you would have thought Blount punched a baby or something....suspending the kid for almost the entire season was just Kelly giving into the media.

I haven't seen anyone cry and complain about what happened between Johnson and Finnegan...people have actually laughed. Its strange though, because if that happened in the NBA mainstream society would be calling the league thugs. For some reason though the NFL is always excused (see fights, steroids, players getting arrested, etc). If Stern made a ruling like the one for Johnson to excuse their acts because of "competitive balance" it would make the top story on every sports show and Stern would be lambasted.
 
I don't think they should get suspended. The only reason this lasted so long was because it was at the beginning of the play while the ball went the opposite way. So nobody was there to stop it, normally players/refs jump right in and this would've been just a normal scuffle that nobody paid attention to.

Most NFL fights would turn into this if nobody bothered to stop them for around 10 secs.

The kid talked shit after they won and he probably deserved to get hit but the difference he is that he wasn't looking. He was completely blindedsided by the punch.

And I don't think Blount got suspended for the season for cracking the kid across the jaw. He got suspended because he went after the fans when he was going through the tunnel.
 
I still don't see how Harrison has been fined 125k this year thus far and hasn't even been flagged for all of those fined hits, let alone been ejected for ANY of them. Goodell is a moron.

I just think it's ridiculous how they each got fined $25k but Asante Samuel got fined $40k for a big hit vs. the Giants.
 
Andre Johnson has always been my favorite NFL player, but Peyton Hillis (this year) has been a close second. After he was knocking haymakers off the top of Cortland's head, I think I'm buying a jersey.
