Noah is a good player..but as of right now he's a very valuable asset you can use in order to acquire better players....You don't win in the NBA because you have Joakim Noah. You win in the NBA and win titles because you have superstar players.

The Nuggets and Nets are closing in on a four-way trade that would send multiple draft picks, Derrick Favors and Andrei Kirilenko to the Nuggets in exchange for Carmelo Anthony.

Devin Harris would go to Charlotte and Boris Diaw to Utah in the proposed trade, which is not yet final.

One source close to the talks said that all the teams are "seriously engaged" after extensive discussions Thursday.

The deal would be contingent on Anthony agreeing to sign a long-term contract extension with the Nets, who are set to move to Brooklyn after two more seasons in Newark.

One source told ESPN that Anthony's willingness to sign with the Nets is a potential obstacle to completion of the trade.

Noah is a good player..but as of right now he's a very valuable asset you can use in order to acquire better players....You don't win in the NBA because you have Joakim Noah. You win in the NBA and win titles because you have superstar players.

If the Bulls had ANY kind of Center who could step in and fill Noah's shoes im sure they would be much quicker to let him go. As it stands.. if Noah goes, Kurt Thomas would be the starting Center.. that would be a major issue. And to Noah's credit, he has played really good basketball in the playoffs the last 2 seasons.

That being said, it still seems ridiculous that Noah would hinder a Melo trade, but it does make a little bit of sense. I dont really think Melo is going to push them over the top anyways, atleast not without a Noah type player in the middle.

It's obvious that the Bulls front line would be thin but like I posted over on CCS if you can team up Rose, Melo, and Boozer you deal with the fact that your starting center position will be(more than likely) weak this year. On a night in night out basis I'd be willing to deal with Thomas/Asik/Richard etc rotating through at center would be managble if you had Rose, Melo, Boozer, Brewer, Korver, Gibson, Watson etc picking up the slack.

Plus if you are the Bulls you look at patch working something together at center after you trade Noah. Throw together a trade for a guy like Reggie Evans or some other defensive player. Give up a 1st rounder or whatever needs to be done since you feel that you will be having later 1st round draft picks over the next few years. Is it a perfect plan? No. But I'd rather be trying to patch in a rebounding big and have Melo on the team than not have Melo on the team at all.

Melo to Nets in four team deal involving Nets, Nuggets, Bobcats and Jazz. Nuggets get Andre Kierolinko, Derek Lafavors and two first rounds.

Sounds like Anthony has to sign off on the contract the Nets offer.

The fact of the matter is, value based it's far easier to find a guy who can get you 10+ rebounds a game than it is to find a guy who can score from anywhere on the floor and can average 28 points per game.

Comes down to this...

Negotiations will persist over the weekend and one report from a league "source" says if it doesn't happen by Monday, it's over.

Marc Stein insists Anthony wants to play for the Knicks and with Amare but the Knicks must get another team involved to get a current first round pick involved (they can only offer 2014 and 2016). Supposedly, Walsh is busting his ass to try and get creative b/c if he can somehow find one, Anthony is a Knick.

Likewise, Anthony would love to play for Chitown but they continue to not want to move Noah and Denver doesn't want Deng.

If either team can change their situation, they likely have a clear road to Anthony.

Otherwise, it's all about whether Carmelo is willing to sign a long-term deal with New Jersey and eventually return to Brooklyn.

Noah averaged a double-double last season, thats it. I do this trade in a hearbeat. Melo is a 28ppg guy, and boosts your team from Top 4 to the east, into top 4 NBA.

Now the Bulls are just stuck in Basketball hell, for another 5-6 years.

Melo approves trade:

According to the New York Daily News, a "reliable source" reports that Carmelo Anthony has approved a trade to the Nets.

Presumably this means that Anthony would agree to a long-term contract extension upon a trade to New Jersey.

A trade could be agreed upon as early as Saturday.
