Some guy posted this on the gamespot forums.
My friend shared his acct and let me download it since we both are very competitative in FNRD3 and involved in boxing in real life. Wehave been waiting for this for a LONG time. He went to Gamestop and put $5 down for prerelease code.
So here's my first impressions. I give the menus, intros, entrances, announcing, tutorial overall presentationetc.. a 10/10. It's stunning! Music skips but it's a demo.
Now graphics look good, not quite as great as I expected. I'm hoping it's just because it's the demo and I'm sure when the full game comes out it'll have a deep career mode n so on. The graphics look kinda of "soft", but have nice effects during counters, muscle flex. The speed is good, the footwork could be faster. The fighter gallery looks nothing like the boxers but I'm sure it's just the demo roster. I give graphics a 9/10.
I'm very please w/ the roster..Pernell Whitaker, Tommy Hearns, Morrales,Jones Jr, Pavlik,Mosley,Gamboa,Corralesand Nonito Donaire, very pleased w/ Donaire. But those are some of my favorites. RJJ is my man, hope his stats are prime Jones. And I can't wait to see Emanuel Augustus's style!
No Bhop, Money May, DLH, Darchinyan,Klitschko bros, David Haye, Paul Williams, Chad Dawson, Tarver, Trinidad, Andre Ward, Vernon Forrest (if Sergio ison), Andre Berto, JMM, Rafael Marquez, Margarito, Joshua Clottey, Glenn Johnson. I totally understand EA has to sign each individual boxer andsome asked for too muchmoney, but A LOT of current and old school boxers are missing. I was hoping RD4 would be stacked to the fullest. Hopefully people make some awesome CAB's and share on forums and such.
The gameplay is the only thing I'm having a little time to get used to. The analog only option is lame. I honestly thought it was a rumor. I know people say "the best FN players use sticks only", I liked to use both... they should have the option to use buttons. It's very hard to throw a realistic combo and counter with precision. With analogs the reaction time just seems a bit slow and you end up throwing a bodyshot instead of an uppercut etc... Blockingis the same analog as throwing punches. VERYweird. You have to stop everything, block, then go back to punching. It's hard to throw a counter off ablocked shot. I abandoned blocking and just sway and use footwork. This is something everyone will just have to get used to and become the new standard I guess. Bobbing and weaving isstrange also, it doesn't react well everytime, not talking about swaying but bobbing and weaving w/ left analog. At least it's an option to do. The punches DO seem weak to me.I'd expect a hard shot to shake the screen and my subwoofer to boom. Like a "hitstick" shot on Madden 09. Glancing blows are cool and it does flash when you land a solid counter. But they could amp up the sound or feel of landing a solid shot. Gameplay so far I give it a 7/10. The controls are akward for now, the punches feel soft. Feels a little more "arcadey" now. I love the inside fighting game though. I think once I get used to the controls I will love this game. This is just my opinions based off the demo. I give it overall an 8.9/10 due to the lack of roster, no button options and the soft feel of punches landed. I'll make myself love this game though and I hope online is lag free as possible!
