Anyone here hate when some players NEVER get a try in the NFL?

Sometimes.

But at the end of the day its usually because there's a better player ahead of them , or they aren't showing there stuff in practice.

The one good thing about coaches having such a short leash is that they can ill afford to politic and overlook players simply because of personal reasons or they were "leftovers" from an old regime. If a guys on your roster and hes performing....and you dont play him team and media will let you have it.

Anyways I get the "hard knocks" effect of rooting for some guys who seem cool or show flashes on Tv reality shows. Then get mad when they get like half a carry in a preseason game then cut.

So being better than Tim Tebow is an indication he'd be a good QB in the NFL.

That makes a lot of sense.

Leak never got a chance because he wasn't in very good shape and had a real weak arm that would get eaten alive if he tried to go downfield with it.

Quarterback-Wise, I followed Dennis Dixon(Oregon Ducks QB), Chris Leak(Ex-Gators QB), and Brady Quinn(Notre Dame QB). None of them really got a chance besides Brady. Dennis Dixon to me is like a younger version of Mike Vick. Chris Leak is an okay QB, but is very underrated. Anyone fee; the same?

Id say getting into a NFL training camp on ones account, and the other one making a team is way more than getting a chance. They would be starters in the NFL if they were good enough.

Dennis Dixon isn't anything like Vick. If anything Dixon was a poor man's Vince Young.

He's probably better than Caleb Hanie. But I get what you mean. Some QB's are College QBss and not NFL QBs.

Hanie has better tools for an NFL QB. Better size, speed, arm power, etc. Hanie is more a NFL type QB than Leak is/was.

Dixon is on the Steelers.. you mean to tell me he deserves a shot with a 2-Time Super Bowl winning QB ahead of him?

Chris Leak did get his chance.. he wasn't any good. It's not like the NFL is filled to the brim with great quarterbacks.. if he could have made it, he would have.. end of story.

I think all of these QB's that didn't make need to go try out for thr 49'ers. If they can't supplant Alex Smith or J.T. O'Sullivan then they do not belong in the NFL

Screw the big names. I've been watching Fourth and Long and saw some of the guys out there that I'm surprised never made it in the NFL. These two dudes, Andrew Hawkins and Jesse Holley, look like NFL players. Hawkins is definitely a special teams guy and can probably be a good slot receiver. I really like Jesse Holley. At 6'3", he's a solid guy. I'm surprised these guys aren't in.

Greatness in college does not guarantee greatness in the pros.

Some great college QBs simply don't have the arm strength or accuracy to play at the next level.

Look at Danny Wuerffel, brilliant college QB, great system at Florida ... a bust as a pro.

I believe Dixon had a severe injury his last year in college, and perhaps that hampered his mobility? I think the Steelers do a pretty good job of finding ways to utilize guys that were good in college but don't necessarily have the NFL size/speed combo.

Yeah he played with a torn ACL and MCL I believe.

None of these guys have what it takes. It's already been said over and over again, coaches are on way too short of a leash to overlook anyone. The best players play. Period.

But you do realize he was most likely going to start the season as the starter for the Ravens, until he contracted a rare case of tonsolitis that made him lose 30 pounds. right?

Only one I never got was Rohan Davey. He was looking like the next Matt Hasselbeck/Aaron Brooks/Jake Delhomme after his NFL Europe MVP but then he was beaten out by Cassell for the backup role in New England and got bounced to Arizona....where somehow he was cut from a team that had starts from Shaun King and Luke McCown......go figure.

Hawkins is my favorite one on the whole show. All he does is make plays in the open field on that show, and he seems to have the best make-up of the WRs left. Montrell Jones is kind of stupid and Holley seems a little bitchy at times.

I also like Eddie Moten, the DB. He seems to have good hips in the limited clips we get to see.
