Not sure why this took so long to get done. Forte represents almost half of the Bears offensive production.

Forte must have lowered his exptectations*, because wasn't he looking for $9-10 million? If that is the case then that is why it got done.

*I hope this means Ray Rice will lower his exptectations.

He was around 9. The Bears were usually around 7. I'm interested what the guaranteed money was.

Because a 4 year, $32 million deal doesn't represent a lot of guaranteed money unless the Bears decide to buck the trend for contracts in recent seasons.

I know the Bears original offer was around 15 million. But that was last season. I think Forte wanted around 18-20.

Yes he WAS there offense. But im not so sure he still will be, and thats a good thing.

I thought the Bears offer was around 13. He still wanted way more. I think his agent has done a horrible job. Not contract wise, because the Bears did the right thing here, and played it well. Im talking more from a PR standpoint. He led his client down some dumb paths. 8 sounds good for at least 3 years. Curious to see the 4th year, and the promised money. Glad thats all behind him and the Bears now.

From a PR standpoint, I don't remember anyone saying "Forte is screwing the Bears over". It was always the other way around.

I dont have any specifics other than the SC interview he did last week. And since its so fresh it keeps sticking out. But, I didnt necessarily mean screwing the Bears over. Just throughout the whole thing I remember thinking alot, why is Matt saying/doing that. Again, it may have just been me.
 
Good move for both. The Bears need Forte and Forte needed his guaranteed money.

You can blame RBs for being petulant about their money.

And this deal is reasonable from a cap point of view for a guy with Forte's production.
