I sort of agree but whats the point of stripping the champ if he will generally be the person they will face next?

Special circumstance because the winner of the tournament is granted a "title shot", so you either do this or wait and not make money for who knows how long

I forgot that they were both in line for a title shot, so I guess I can live with it in this case. I hate when UFC does it when a champ gets hurt. If a guy is going to be out forever, and you absolutely have to have the title booked (why?), just strip him and give him an immediate shot when he gets back. Having two titles floating around never made sense to me.

In the UFC view it doesnt make sense because there is no set "title shot" they call have the fights on the card a title shot anyway, win, lose or just sitting out you may get a title shot

Both Newton and Mo won tournaments and thats the format, so it makes at least some sense

If this one isn't worth the money to you, then they simply can't put one together that would.

-The biggest fight they have the ability to make (Alvarez/Chandler), which is a rematch of the best fight in company history
-The five of the six biggest stars they have, with only Askren missing
-Three title matches so far
-Tito vs Rampage freak show

Even if you don't think it's worthy of your money, which is fine, I think you would have to admit that they've put together the best possible card they can.

Personally, i'm buying. I like the card, and I want to see how they do production wise first time out.

There's no doubt this is a great card and the best they could realistically put together on PPV, but for me...I've pretty much decided on getting the Weidman/Silva show and am not really looking to spend almost $100 on PPVs to close the year.

Just found out that if Eddie loses his next fight he's going to get cut. Rebney completely fucked up his career, I don't know why anyone would want to support Bellator. This guy makes Dana look like a saint.

If he loses, he can leave. If he wins, he has to grant Chandler a rematch, and if he beats him again, he is also free to leave.

Basically, Bellator is banking on the idea that Chandler will beat him one out of two times.

They matched the terms of UFC's deal word for word, as was their right, and Alvarez decided to whine about it and fight it instead of honoring the deal. He's actually lucky Bellator offered him this compromise, because there is a very good chance he was going to lose in court & that could have taken another year.

What has Bellator done to earn this type of admiration from the fans? They're no where near as good a promotion and they have not done as much for the fighters as SF or Affliction did. We shouldn't throw our support behind any promotion just because they're the #2, they still need to do things the right way before receiving that type of support.

What did Affliction do?

Bellator took the UFC's deal and just switched their names earlier in the year. The reason Eddie tried to get out of the deal was because there was no way he would make even close to the same amount of $$$ since Bellator had yet to do PPV (and even if they did, who knows if they're doing 50k buys, let alone 100k).

As it stands now, say what you want about Rebney and their way of doing business....but Bellator has put on a bunch of awesome fights over the years and has provided a bunch of great young fighters a place to grow into top 5, top 10 guys.

You have your facts wrong. Bellator took the UFC contract offer, replaced all references to "Zuffa" & "UFC" with "Bellator", and sent it back word for word, term for term. The exercised their matching rights, word for word, and Alvarez cried foul. That's why I say he whined. He signed a deal with Bellator that had matching rights, and when Bellator matched it, he tried to worm his way out of it. I side with Bellator here, because to me Alvarez had no leg to stand on.

The two fight (max) contract they ended up agreeing to was after the settlement. And quite frankly, Bellator did him a favor by settling and giving him a shorter deal. They could have let this thing drag on in the courts, costing Alvarez more time & money. Alvarez already lost a year of his prime money making career, and was running out of money. Bellator could have bled him dry. Instead, they offered him a very fair settlement. He was going to lose in court. Yes, we all know things like PPV points are worth far more in UFC. But courts don't rule on hypotheticals. Once Bellator became a PPV business, Alvarez was fucked, and he knew it. Everything UFC offered, Bellator can now match. PPV points, reality show gig, studio show hosting gig, and the base money. That's why Alvarez sat down & settled. His case was shit.

My thoughts on the Eddie situation

I wanted Bellator too let him go to the UFC, he already lost to Chandler so it would have been good for Eddie to go

The contract was the same, everyone thinks Eddie was going to be on some monster ppv and make millions, want going to happen. Lombard got more money and still was put on a foreign ppv and was a champ unlike eddie

The UFC came in low for Eddie, look at the Lombard deal, not even close and bellator passed in Lombard who was the champ, they put a lot into Eddie and even Eddie claimed he was one of the highest paid LWs under Bellator, they paid him well

Bellator was not going to let him go for 70/70, it just wasn't going to happen, the UFC lowballed him and Bellator matched. He wasn't going to win I'm court so they redid the deal and Eddie can leave after a loss or two fights

I guess Atilla Vegh is saying he is not hurt and was passed up on the ppv for Mo vs Newton

If the champ is not but than its brutal they made an interim title and had Mo fight Newton, it should be Newton vs Vegh

It was a polish interviewer but Vegh was answering in Slavic, he said he was healthy for the ppv amd passed now, now he is saying it was a translation issue
