I guess Atilla Vegh is saying he is not hurt and was passed up on the ppv for Mo vs Newton

If the champ is not but than its brutal they made an interim title and had Mo fight Newton, it should be Newton vs Vegh

It was a polish interviewer but Vegh was answering in Slavic, he said he was healthy for the ppv amd passed now, now he is saying it was a translation issue

Released by Bellator today:

Numerous websites yesterday posted a story regarding Attila Vegh and statements he allegedly made to a reporter while in Poland. The interview was done in Slovakian, through a reporter speaking Polish, and a number of US websites published the story with inaccurate and misleading information.

Please see the attached medical report to this email, a doctor's report provided to Bellator by Attila's doctor detailing his injury and instructing him to do nothing for 2 months.

Additionally, Attila has confirmed that his statements were not translated correctly and were not accurate. Attila was fully aware that Bellator made numerous attempts to schedule his world title defense vs. Emmanuel Newton, and that his injury prevented that bout from occurring and that Bellator was going to schedule an interim world title fight because of the delays.

Attila will be facing the winner of the Newton vs. Mo Interim World Title fight in early 2014.

People who have seen the doctor's order mentioned above are saying it's a chest contusion from April 15th, meaning he would have only been out until June 15, giving him plenty of time to train for a PPV fight. The whole thing looks shady. Vegh was definitely hurt and ordered not to train by a doctor, and that did delay his first fight with Newton, but that was months ago. Bellator obviously wanted any excuse to make the Mo/Newton fight, which is a total UFC move.

You have your facts wrong. Bellator took the UFC contract offer, replaced all references to "Zuffa" & "UFC" with "Bellator", and sent it back word for word, term for term. The exercised their matching rights, word for word, and Alvarez cried foul. That's why I say he whined. He signed a deal with Bellator that had matching rights, and when Bellator matched it, he tried to worm his way out of it. I side with Bellator here, because to me Alvarez had no leg to stand on.

The two fight (max) contract they ended up agreeing to was after the settlement. And quite frankly, Bellator did him a favor by settling and giving him a shorter deal. They could have let this thing drag on in the courts, costing Alvarez more time & money. Alvarez already lost a year of his prime money making career, and was running out of money. Bellator could have bled him dry. Instead, they offered him a very fair settlement. He was going to lose in court. Yes, we all know things like PPV points are worth far more in UFC. But courts don't rule on hypotheticals. Once Bellator became a PPV business, Alvarez was fucked, and he knew it. Everything UFC offered, Bellator can now match. PPV points, reality show gig, studio show hosting gig, and the base money. That's why Alvarez sat down & settled. His case was shit.

The contract offer that "matched" the UFC's deal is irrelevant because that's not what he signed. If you're supposed to be different and treat your fighters right then give him a proper settlement. You'll see once Eddie is ass out if he ends up losing this fight. Bellator will make an example of him and the UFC won't sign him after a loss. That, or he'll be in a new contract far worse than what the match was supposed to be with no negotiating power with the UFC no longer in the picture.

What did Affliction do?

Bellator took the UFC's deal and just switched their names earlier in the year. The reason Eddie tried to get out of the deal was because there was no way he would make even close to the same amount of $$$ since Bellator had yet to do PPV (and even if they did, who knows if they're doing 50k buys, let alone 100k).

As it stands now, say what you want about Rebney and their way of doing business....but Bellator has put on a bunch of awesome fights over the years and has provided a bunch of great young fighters a place to grow into top 5, top 10 guys.

Affliction put on better fights for starters (admittedly entirely different business models though). They also stepped up and paid the fighters they sponsored despite the UFC banning them.

Affliction had 2 shows so I'm not sure they had better fights...Fedor vs. Sylvia/Arlovski and Barnett vs. Rizzo are the only ones I even remember.

LOL, yeah because Eddie WOULDN'T SIGN IT. How is it Bellator's fault that Eddie WHINED & CRIED when they matched it word for word, and decided to file a lawsuit?

This is amazing. Alvarez is lucky he got ANY settlement. You should be praising Bellator for cutting him a break. They could have bled his ass dry and took this thing to a judge, where most people feel like he was dead meat and would have lost anyway.

You are correct. I think Alvarez is going to lose, and this is exactly how it will play out. He'll end up in UFC with a far worse contract than he was originally offered.

And you know how Alvarez could have prevented that?

By signing the original offer when Bellator matched it and it was sitting in front of him.

The reason Eddie Alvarez lost that original deal, with PPV points, a hosting gig, a spot on a reality show, etc, is because he refused to sign it. It's not Bellator's fault, it's not UFC's fault, it's Eddie's fault. He fucked up.

Even Chael isn't getting pov points on the next GSP card and he is a golden boy, counting this last Bendo vs Pettis card that's 3 out of the last 4 ppvs that will do under 200k buys

I think Eddie gets finished in under 3 rounds, Chandler gets better with every fight, Eddie has a lay off and his chin gets him in trouble, Chandlee is just a beast

Eddie will probably go the WSOF route for a fight or two if they're still around than get in the UFC with a smaller contact, sucks but he jumped the gun on the UFC offer and should have waited for the exclusive period to end

That, and he probably figured Bellator wouldn't match because they let Lombard walk, and this deal had all sorts of extras that Lombard's didn't. He got caught with his pants down.
