Best coach in football.. Coughlin or Belichick?

Gilbride gets too much noise. He's a solid offensive coordinator. Remember also that as I understand it, he gives Eli a passing & running option with every call and Eli makes it at the line of scrimmage.

I don't know if Gilbride is HC material, but I think keeping the same system with the same QB for so long is nothing but good.

What I find to be most interesting is that hardly anyone is interested in the Giants' coaching staff. Almost all positions have been filled this year on the coaching carousel (all head coaching spots), and no one has even given a look to a coach on New York's staff.

How many of New England's assistants have went on to become head coaches somewhere else? It really speaks to how undervalued Tom Coughlin is as a mentor and a leader.

Because Perry Fewell isn't a defensive genius. ***** ********* clearly is.

I'd really like the Giants fans to spin the difference between the beloved ***** ********* and the "suspect" Perry Fewell. Giants still winning SB's and beating Brady without the supposed mastermind. How about that?

Its funny, because the Giants defense is similar to the D that they won their last Super Bowl with. Monster D-Line that's ridiculously versatile.

Funny enough, its similar to what Coughlin was building in Jacksonville before he was given the ax. He started with Stroud and Henderson and got the boot. I'm saddened to know, the Jaguars would have won the Super Bowl right now with that ridiculously defense if they kept Saint Tom as the head ball coach. Coughlin has a good mind for the game and knew that is where the game was going...he started it in Jacksonville...never got to finish and put together two great lines on the Giants that won Super Bowls.

Capers was only there for 2 years... The first year with him as defensive coordinator they made vast improvements, but the team actually started going to shit while he was there..

The 2007 Pats were 18-0 and running over teams. Seemed impossible to stop there offense. We lost 38-35 in regular season finale to them.

Tommy C was in the middle of rebuilding.

The team's best players in their initial stage got old or came off their peaks or were injured.

They were able to shed about $16M from their pay roll to the Houston Texans during the Expansion Draft which would have opened up some cap space for them to use. He already put the building blocks to a big time defense together with Henderson and Stroud, landed his "QB of the future" in Garrard.

If Coughlin never gets fired, the Jaguars don't go and grab Leftwich and put countless resources into shitty players to surround Leftwich. Imagine a Jaguars team with Henderson, Stroud, and Terrelle Suggs.

Picks Coughlin's Giants had when he took over...Manning, Chris Snee (who was currently his daughter's baby daddy at the time), Corey Webster, Justin Tuck, Brandon Jacobs, Kiwanuka, etc.

Coughlin's Giants are in the same mold as his Jaguars teams...good QB, run the football on offense, big time defensive line on defense. It would have taken him a year or two to rebuild after the initial run, but I have no doubt Coughlin wins a Super Bowl in Jacksonville if they gave him time.

Instead...we hire fucking Jack Del Rio and we waste a decade of football with this bum.

Isn't Belichick basically the GM? IMO Belichick has to get better athletes and football players on this roster. The need a talented pass rusher a talented corner and some more talent at WR. He needs to top trading back or taking 3rd string QB's who he hopes to trade in the future and get some guys with some talent on the roster. As much as we all love Welker he isn't an elite talent....neither is anyone on defense outside of the high draft pick guys. During their dynasty years the Pats had elite players on defense at least (Law, Seymour, Harrison, etc). Guys like Welker, Woodhead, BJGE, etc are solid players, but they aren't elite talents....they're good because of Brady.

It's not like the Pats are some crappy team coached by the wizard of Oz. They were not as good as they were years ago (this was the worst of their SB teams, no doubt), but they're still a very good team. A shitty defense, but a very good team.

The Bears just hired Phil Emery as their new GM. But second place came to Jason Licht, some cat out of the Pats organization. Word was he wasnt even in the draft room at times cuz BB ran everything. (thank goodness not even the Bears fucked that up and picked him). Im pretty sure since Pioli (sp) left, it has been all BB.

but ultimately, the last 2 times,that pretty much means theyve just been comparable to the early version of the Elway lead Broncos..a star QB can only do so much..the first 3 times,they at least had a defense of note..yet still, only having enough to win the big one by 3 and never really dominating a SB....Still impressive historically either way

Also, the last time someone hired a guy off the Giants staff, the Rams got the Steve Spags era. That really didnt work out too well.
